Did you bother to look up some of what went on? Unfortunately twitter's strength is its real time messaging but some idiots with impulse control post toxic messages only to try and delete them minutes later. Then try to backtrack and apologize.

I don't condone the behaviour in the slightest, but I also know there are a lot of CH haters on here, exacerbated by the PLD banter, who just needed a little nudge to climb all over this with sanctimonious messages ignoring the team lunatics in their own virtual backyards. It's not reactionary whataboutism, just a reminder it's not exclusive to habs fans.

This is unique to the Habs because their fans are so passionate. Perhaps the Leafs can rival them, but nowhere in the States do you witness this level of fanaticism on a regular basis.
An American team could have 2x the fan base as Montreal, yet it still wouldn't rival the Habs because the average US hockey fan filling up stadiums isnt as emotionally invested. Hockey isnt religion here.

Hockey media in Canada has that TMZ element to it; Montreal is no different.
It also exists in other media markets and other sports. A large fanbase will always have a few idiots.
Subban was beloved here, still is and was honoured at the Bell centre last January 12th. He was all over social media here at the F1, visited his hospital wing etc.

They are impatient right now. They were told that a rebuild was the only way to get the Stamkos, Matthews, Kane, MacKinnon of this world but 2 years running and they get dissapointed by the habs draft pick.

Why is this thread still open? A very small percentage of fans act stupidly and entire fan base is labelled (by people who hate that franchise) as lunatics. Find a team in any sport, in any country, with a large group of fans and I'll guarantee you will find some less than desirable people.

I really believe, and this is as a Toronto fan, that we are only talking about a few tweets here and there. I find it hard to believe a large group of people would threaten an 18yr old like this

This isn't to say a lot of Montreal fans are not upset about the pick but I have to believe the vast majority of fans are reasonable people

Thinks always tend to get overblown when it comes to the Habs/Leafs...I can't imagine "thousands" of people sending him hate messages and threatening him.

Either way, disappointing...send your hate towards the management, not the kid. Hope Reinbacher proves them all wrong.
