Matheson has looked f***ing awful this year.
I've said it since before the season started Matheson is not the answer on the PP. Bad shot selection errant passes slow/wrong/deliberate/telegraphed decision making.

How many times did he put Caufield in a bind. The play has go to Suzuki and give him as much time and space as possible. Until we find a better play maker the more touches Suzuki gets the better.

Who should be at the top of the diamond, while we wait for Mailloux and Hutson?

Maybe Newhook?

Monahan
Caufield RHP Suzuki

Is Caufield the hab's best/most exciting player since Kovalev?
I know nobody likes him but let's start off with Pacioretty.

He's still got a some distance to go before he reaches Kovalev status. Le Dieu du Stade was a more complete package.

Having Slaf at the point on the top PP unit would be a good start and its not Burrows' decision, thats a head coach one.
IMO, I don't think Slaf is ready to QB the pp from the point + not a big fan of having a forward there, but he should definitely take Anderson's bumper spot. Having a left shot there would give Caufield more room seeing the defender would have to cover both Caufield shot and the pass to Slaf.

Sat Cole in fantasy tonight like the big dummy I am. Might cost me my week too. Serves me right.

Boys are going to be an adventure holding leads this year, I can already tell. Blew it against the Leafs, blew it tonight, and came really close to blowing it against Chicago with a late post. Hopefully it's just a young-team thing.

Anderson - Newhook - Slaf looks really good. RHP had a better game tonight. Nick's still meh. Matheson had me pulling my hair out in the last five minutes. Jake Allen played amazing and Cole is money.

Game, set, match.

We have absolutely nothing to lose to try it, Slaf looks pretty good on the 2nd wave and Matheson is clearly not a quarterback.

He's not. He needs to fill the same role Monahan plays but on PP2.

It’s a really good opportunity Newhook.
Agreed, I know a lot of posters were unhappy with how much we gave up for him. I personally think if he can continue to contribute like he has. We'll be quite happy with the results.

Did anyone else notice Harris? I'm not trying to be negative. I think I noticed him carry the puck up ice once.

Well that could really destroy his confidence for starters. I think that having him QB an already struggling pp could be a recipe for disaster.

The problem with Matheson is that he's not able to properly set up Caufield for the one timer. The only option is Suzuki, but that's a difficult cross ice pass to make and the pk already knows it's coming.

Maybe Barron could set him up a bit better as a RD, but I don't have much trust with Barron at the point neither.

Yea he should, but I think they want him to use his shot/one timer. He definitely could cause havoc in front of the net, dig for pucks in the corners, and definitely has the hands to set up some passes from there after getting possession
