Post-Game Talk: Habs blow it against the Islanders in OT

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

2 brutal games from Montemblow in a row

Just cant happen. The team is laying it on the line and he is laying eggs

CC was trash tonight

Third line was the best

Jackeye and Savard cant be trusted sadly
X played well, Savard is good for blocking shots but not much else. Not one giveaway between them. X needs a better partner.

We don't really give a damn about another team's roster, unless they're targets for trades.
You don't give a damn about the other team yet you love to say we got "outgoalied" which shows that you do give a damn. Sorokin goes out for a stroll on that Laine goal for whatever reason and that Gallagher shot was way slower than Holmstrom and Horvat's. Monty should have had the other two for sure, no denying that.

Tough loss but big point still. With the time left, this game could've easily gone to a shootout. Lane wanted to be the hero, chalk it up as a learning experience.

I also didn't Caufield's last shot attempt in OT. Wasn't his best game for sure.

Monty is just too inconsistent to be a true #1.

Matheson can't handle the pressure. He was playing well these past few weeks, but now that the pressure is ramping up, he's back to doing too much and causing ridiculous turnovers in the process.

I just hope these points they're leaving on the table don't come back to bite them.

Montreal played a great game. This should have been a regulation win, but Sorokin kept Isles in it. Now you know how Isles are winning.

Matheson was terrible this game, but I also think he's injured. He doesn't have his usual explosiveness and struggled at times with his starts, which really affected his puck handling.

Great game by Anderson - Dvorak - Gallagher line again. Great game by Suzuki. I also liked Slafkovsky's game tonight he caused a lot of turn overs by the Islanders D. Caufield struggled.

The Suzuki off-side overturned goal really hurt.

Montembeault was not good. I had zero confidence in him tonight.

I'm OK with what Hutson did. Issue was no one challenged Horvat.

NYI pass NYR and are in 9th now. Same gp as Montreal and they have one more RW.

I'll take the point, though.

Imagine going into the playoffs with this goaltending...

Not worth sacrificing our future for a run with a backup.

Could've been a lot worse.

We move a point closer to Ottawa, a point further ahead of the Rangers and Wings, and we stay 3 points ahead of Columbus.

The game Saturday is massive though because the Islanders and Jackets play on Monday. There's a very good chance whoever wins that game overtakes us on Monday if we lose against Colorado.

Isles against CBJ ? That game will be 0-0 after 65 minutes and 20 SO attempts . They will decide to determine the winner with a Texas Holdem hand.
