48 points in 60 games is absolutely fine with me. Have you seen his linemates. Colin White, Valteri Puustinen, Drew O'Connor, Reilly Smith.

Shocking he's even able to keep that pace.
48 points in 60 games isnt a PPG player. And next year it'll go down even more. It's the law of diminishing returns. I'll bet you Sids numbers go down next year as well.

Genos a point a game player, you sure? Maybe look that up?

In addition they're only gonna get worse with each passing year. Something clearly you're not factoring in. ITS OVER! And it's gonna be a very painful time for PPL like you who simply wanna hold onto the big names and think they are anywhere close to the players they once were. It's an illness for you and you will learn just how very off your assessment is. Me, I know we're toast. Just wanna accumulate quality picks and prospects in the process.

The pain will come when those players are gone. A prospect thats ready in 3 years does nothing for the rebuild timeline. Something you clearly don't understand.

As long as the core is still performing (which they are) they will continue to at least attempt to keep it going as they already have stated.

What's the hype about him? His numbers seem very underwhelming.

How so? 36 points in 48 games in his first pro season is not bad at all.

He was super hyped up a few years ago when he put up 50 goals in the OHL, but has cooled down a bit and seems to just have top-6 winger upside. He seems a Guentzel/Hornqvist hybrid type of player, which fills a huge need for the Penguins.

It will go down if they don't get him a winger to play with. He's doesn't have a legit top 6 winger as it is now.

One thing I've learned about Sid is never bet against him. Clearly we are watching a different game.

No, the pains here now and I'm ok with that. We'll plummet regardless of what you think. We'll just plummet with once great players. It won't be pretty but it's quite necessary.

Sid can't fix all that ails this team by himself.

Truthfully, I think you need to aim a bit higher.

I guess you think a rebuild automatically means success. We are closer to success right now than we will be in 5 years even if we are going backwards right now.

Just ask all them teams that have been rebuilding. Let the core runs it's course

Jessi Puljujarvi was hyped up a few years ago as well

I'm not thrilled with him either but it may be all we get if they think he's more ready now.

*Gets of his high horse

Yeah but he put up 50 goals as an overager in the OHL. Rory Kerins had 118 points that season, Logan Morrison had 100, and Luke Evangelista had 111. I wouldn't say any of those players have top-6 upside, except maybe Evangelista. He also had 67 in 56 in his D+2 year, at that age you should putting up 100+ points. Othmann's best comparables so far in his career are Petteri Nokelainen and Milan Michalek.

He's ranked as the 46th best prospect in the NHL according to Wheeler. Morrow is 54th.

I'm not looking at the age. It doesn't matter when guys are still performing. Sure they aren't in their 20s but they are performing better than 70-80 % of 20 year olds in the NHL so why does it?

I am looking at what they are doing on the ice. Sid is still a beast

Geno has his moments but he's trying to carry bottom 6 players on top lines. Surround him with guys that can lighten his load and play the top 6 and I believe you see a much different version of Malkin.

It's pretty simple.

Or maybe they should just retire because they are in their 30s.
Clearly we are at an impasse. Agree to disagree.

Aim higher, gotta be higher than Yager.

Carolina better be aggressive.

They are in their win now window and the excuse for last season was this season and going all in this year with their 30M cap space.

Not landing a big fish would just say they aren’t serious about winning and are just happy to take part

Once it became known that business was being considered within the division - NY vs CAR made too much sense.

Rarely would I make a claim as big as whomever landing Jake having instantly better odds in the inevitable head to head. One of those situations where you really can't let the guy go to your opponent.

Essentially if Carolina is serious, NY must also be serious.

i mean on the short deadline while everyone else was hunting elsewhere, it could have happened. We dont do bidding wars though
I mean if Pittsburgh is asking for Nikishin then I can see why they wouldn't trade for him. I really wonder what the proposals look like right now.
