Guelph Storm 2024 25 Season Thread Part I

How many mistakes does a certain defenseman need to make before you need to make him a healthy scratch. At times he reminds me of another defenseman that was more concerned about points than supporting his team.
I’m going to take a wild guess that the certain defenseman you are referring to was a -2 on Friday night despite scoring a goal?

Watching the Sting-Storm game on TV right now. I think I found a new leading contender for the most homer announcers in the league today…even with the replays I can’t figure out what they are seeing most of the time. Fake news.

The Storm has been getting phenomenal attendance despite the bottom of the standings year. Any thoughts on what is bringing in the crowds? From my perspective, I like the second intermission musical entertainment. The earlier times are more accommodating to my and other's schedules.

You would be correct
Watching Storm at Flint tonight and that certain defenseman has been constantly out of position, jumping up when he has no business doing so and has turned over or caused odd man rushes at least four times in the second period alone. Worst part is he doesn’t even skate hard back to try and fix his mistake - just gives up and suddenly can’t skate to save his life. Ineffective in his own zone - just waves his stick around with one hand on it. He has to go. Look to replace him next year - shouldn’t be difficult.

Rant over (but not likely)

I think it’s a combination of things - more promos including ticket + swag packages, in-game entertainment for kids, and probably moreover, the constant increase in the population of Guelph. The game time changes have also likely helped as you mentioned. For me, I keep going because I like watching the growth of the young core knowing I’ll be rewarded over the next couple of years. Every go for it year has required enduring a stinker or two of a season in the lead-up to it.

LMFAO. You do realize he is playing forward tonight, right?

Actually, no I didn’t - I tuned in late and didn’t catch it. All I saw was every time he had the puck or was going for it, he lost it and caused a turnover. Thanks for pointing that out.

My comments in general though apply to most other games where he is on D. Maybe they will try converting him to a forward for next year then - but there is no way he should return as a D-man - that experiment is over. If I was the only one that felt that way I could see being pointed out for piling on the player. But I see a lot of comments in other places and hear a lot of the same comments at the games and it puzzles me how the coaching staff seem to not be noticing it.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
