Prospect Info: '24-'25 Prospects Thread: Generation Z

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Any offer sheet would be after free agency starts and would use 2026 picks, not 2025 picks.
Yeah, you better have some major improvements lined up if you're going to offer sheet using your 1st. You can't run back the same shit roster. What a kick to the nuts it would be to successfully sign someone to an offer sheet then have that team win the draft lottery with your pick.

No way Dubas puts our '26 1st at risk.

If the Rangers miss the playoffs this year they're canning Laviolette for sure. I guess that's a coin flip on if that improves them or not but I think there'd be some changes for sure.

The have only 10mill in cap and have to sign Miller and Cuylle. They can't go big spending and don't have much assets to trade for anyone big. All of their good forwards players are 32+ as well.

I don't think Laviolette is their biggest problem

They are not done remaking that roster. Kreider and Zibanejad are likely next out the door, and the returns for both will be minimal. I think this summer is the summer Lafreniere is finally dealt, as Drury is going to start feeling the squeeze to get stuff done. Lafreniere for Rust?

I think the NYR will look radically different when the puck drops in October, but I would still rather have their 2026 first if I had the choice. Picking 14th this year is cool, too. But them losing is only benefiting us. If they keep dropping, they will definitely defer to next year.

Yeah they don’t have much wiggle room, but I also could see Kreider and Shesterkin having bounceback seasons, which would put them pretty solidly into a playoff position. Their GF/GA ratio alone suggests they should be doing better than they are and might just be a bit unlucky.

Shesterkin sure.

Kreider, now way. He is going to be 34. He is on the back nine and the league is just getting faster.
The need Zibanejad to bounce back more or they are toast.

Are we talking at the draft?

Because, that's why he dropped.

He wasn't a lock at being a top pairing offensive guy, but the skill set was there and he had a unique aspect in his size. Pickering's D+1 year made it obvious he wouldn't hit those offensive totals, but at the time of the draft who was a huge upside pick. Same thing as Poulin.
Huh

Look up my posts on Pickering brotha

Yeah I don’t know. A lot of NY core are getting up there in age. Most of them heading into their mid 30s.

Would be nice if he ended up being our Markus Naslund !!
All part of the plan.

Rangers are sliding and there is a good chance Pens get the 14th pick. I have posted the Rangers may be bad next year and finish in the top 5 for a pick in the 26 draft. Pens look to be between the 6th and 8th pick in 25 draft. In any event Dubas will be active into this draft with trades and picks to swap.

I mean maybe. Good luck moving them. Also even if they do that doesnt make them better. Zibanejad is their third leading scorer up front. Kreider 3rd in goal. They suck but you need to replace that production. They arent landing a big UFA to do it.
I agree. But I think one of our main competition to land Marner will be NYR. There is no real connection to NYR, but Marner is a right-winger. The one thing the NYR have lacked for the longest time now is natural right-wingers. Zibanejad, Lafreniere and Cuylle have been playing top-six RW for them since the trade for J.T. Miller. Zibanejad is a center, and the other two are natural LWs. Gabe Perreault might be part of the solution, as he plays either wing naturally. But I can see a scenario where Marner is on their radar. And Brock Boeser would be as well, especially with the Miller connection.

Which is also why I mentioned Bryan Rust, because I think Rust to NYR makes a ton of sense for them.
