...so a trade definitely coming if they didn't recall any forwards based on the current roster?
Isn’t this just replacing Myers...so a trade definitely coming if they didn't recall any forwards based on the current roster?

Nixed Rangers Trade for Miller
- Trade didn’t get close enough to formally ask Miller to waive his NMC
- Were unable to confirm specifics on the trade
- Filip Chytil, Ryan Lindgren, and some future assets, including a 1st round pick, could have been involved; one source said the protections around the 1st was a key hurdle
There’s absolutely no reason for the Canucks not to be able to get a decent return for a player of this calibre. Period.
I don’t give a f*** how “toxic” Miller is rumoured to be. 8m in a rising cap is nothing. 104pts last year. Averages 91pts the last 4 years. Physical player that has size and skill, and can match up against the very best players in the league (when properly motivated ofc). One of the very best faceoff aces in the league. Still on a 73pt pace this year.
And you tell me Chytil, Lindgren, and a 1st is the return?
Management needs to not bungle this up. And posters saying any trade is a win, freeing up cap and getting a 1st is a win need to shut the f*** up.
Miller is a game changing asset for any contending team able to make the money work. He does not move without a prime asset and picks coming back.

Don't expect a trade soon if Alvin is getting ready for a PC.
If you think that this management is poor, you really must not have remembered any of the Benning era and how bad it was in comparison.
For a good number of these moves, the logic behind them was understandable.
#1 - Agree that this was not a good move
#2 - Kuzmenko was coming off a 39 goal season, gelled with Pettersson, and we still managed to cut loose on him after it was determined it would not work out with Tocchet (and it wasn't as a cap dump). This was the right move at the time.
#3/4/5 - Any other team with their 1D and 2D injured for a good portion of time will suffer. Yes, the Canucks have been missing a top 4 LD all season, and it probably was redundant to sign both Desharnais and Forbort, but the logic was that they would fill in the missing role closer to the TDL after some cap accrual. The injures to Hronek and Hughes really derailed the team more significantly than envisioned.
Also, with all this JT talk today, apparently Pittsburgh is open for a fire sale.
Friedman pretty much saying miller is going to get traded and his preference is the eastern united states
The problem is that they peddled this narrative around a 3-4 year "competitive window" largely based on Pettersson, Miller, Demko, and Hughes. They gave Miller/Pettersson HUGE deals on this premise. They are now looking to trade one of those pieces for pennies on the dollar, Demko and Pettersson look broken, and Hughes is standing alone. They now appear ready to try to peddle this narrative AGAIN without the top-end pieces. This would be very Benning-esque if they went this route.
Last summer was a total failure on this group.

that is a short list of mostly reasonable judgment calls. rebuttalMistake #1: Signing Mikheyev to a 4 year contract when we needed help on the blueline. Had to use a pick and retain to get rid of him.
Not too bad.
Mistake #2: Signing Kuzmenko to a 2 year extension when it should have been foreseen the coach wouldn't like his style of play.
Again, wasn't too bad in the grand scheme of things. It's just annoying how there was an obvious disconnect between the GM and coach.
Mistake #3, 4, 5: Signing Myers to an extension, and thinking Desharnais, Juulsen and Forbort could round out our blueline.
I'm sorry but this was absolutely inexcusable. It was something right out of Jim Benning's playbook.
This JT Miller saga is now reinforcing the belief that our GM may be a total moron.
