This story is as old as time. England have good players but coaching and tactics hold them back.

They won’t win unless they get an English coach Who can actually coach and I don’t know many.

Really good halftime came when it did for England so Gareth could reset and reorganise them.

Missed their chance too. Should have moved on from Southgate and gone with Potter.

What a wierd time for a substitution. Why wait 5-8 minutes and not just do it at halftime ?

Southgate gets wayyy too much criticism given he's easily the most successful England manager in 50 years.
He's got the most talent in the world at his disposal imo he should do better, or at least play some attractive football, not go up then park the bus against the likes of Serbia and Denmark.

With the current team i would do better. You could just let them play exactly how they want and they would do better than this.
That's vastly overrating their talent level relative to the competition. I'm supposed to think a squad that has a midget in goal and starts Trippier in every match is some kind of all-star team? England has good players, but it's not 1994 Brazil, it's not late 90s France, 2010 Spain, it's not even recent France talent-wise.

And I wanna say that all of those teams mentioned had their rough patches and unconvincing matches in group stages etc. because international tournament football isn't easy. Teams don't just waltz to titles.

England is always overrated but right now them and France are producing some of the best talents around. Southgate is a problem but it runs deeper

Starting three right backs is a point against Southgate, not in his favour.

Watch Bah have fun with this makeshift English left flank

I’m not saying i would drag them to the title or anything, but i think they would play better football if you just let them free.

In current day football teams playing 'free' concede tons of goals because coordinated passing attacks go through shapeless teams that aren't drilled to be compact like a knife through warm butter.

I can see what Southgate is trying to do, I don't know if he has the right answers to all the questions, but quite frankly he didn't make Kane play a dumb pass back into the middle to no-one in particular and then have a Dane hit a shot from 30 yards out that goes in the goal from the post.
