I think they mentioned on tsn today that going into this game slovakia had lost 5 of the last 6 games against Germany at this thing and after today that would be 6 out of 7 but maybe I heard that wrong, if true it seems it may not be a coaching issue so much as Germany beating Slovakia isn't really a shocker anymore.

I'll have to google this to make sure.

Slovak sport culture has this terrible “try to hold on” when they have the lead at the end. And 99% of the time they choke and let a goal in. They need to find a way to keep up the pressure even when winning in the dying minutes

I believe it is GD between the two teams that are tied (so in essence H2H), not overall GD but I can be mistaken.

Tbh we totally didn’t deserve this. I mean we can boast about German efficiency or anything but in the end we need to get better. The team has the talent but lacks the chemistry, or at least that’s my impression.

On the other hand: their mentality is spot on, super patient, super determined.

It’s not just about the result, it’s about how it happens. It’s not just coaching it’s all the development as well and these f***ing Slovak “fans” who care more about having a drink than watching the team be successful is quite obvious. I’m looking at top Slovak prospects and think oh wow he may be good but than you realize there is hundreds from other nations already better at skating, passing, positioning. But to these so called fans, that doesn’t matter. They only care when the tournament comes along, none other time. They are the reason why the development team who is garbage are still there.

Haha, I hardly get emotional from watching hockey (years of Sabres hockey made me numb I guess ) but that hit on Seider made me quite angry so it was great to see the rest of the team take the win the way rhey did.

Two teams it is H2H, more than 2 they create a group with the results amongst each other. I think Germany is through, the only way would be if Slovakia wins out and somebody else (USA) also gets just 12 points. But like I said, that sounds really unlikely.

I watch every f***ing game we play at every f***ing level, from U16 to Senior level, I have been cheering for us until the end even in 2017, which was probably the most painful team to watch ever, but after today, I seriously don't even want to watch our remaining games.

I hear you, as a big fan of Slovak hockey that has got to rankle you. We've got our issues here too that drive me nuts.
