The incredible thing is Kakko did not lose the puck a single time today, even with 3 guys on him at times, and on his knees. This guy could be legendary. The last time I saw puck possession that dominant was mid-late 00's Jagr.
I missed that Finland/Russia game. Anyone have a recap?Finland getting 5 out of 6 points against Canada, Russia and USA with this **** roster is pretty impressive

Well, it's also good to note that Vehviläinen isn't playing any meaningful games after this one anymore. The sweep before the game-winning goal was not seen by the referees.
However, this was a wakeup call for Team Finland. This kind of B team can't win with this kind of goaltending and personal mistakes. Young Kakko is not a saviour in every game.

I think Hughes is obviously not getting the same treatment as Kakko does, just because of the rosters of the teams. That being said, Kakko was an impact player with Finland tonight (and the two games before) and Hughes was not for USA (Q.Hughes was though, got the GWG assist after all). That doesn't mean Jack Hughes is bad or that he might not go first though. Stuff like this judged on potential and not just by the fact that who is more ready player now. I think Kakko is the latter, but in few years Hughes might be better. This was a pro Kakko thread. If Hughes had scored or done well it would have been luck. Hughes is not getting prime minutes because of the amount of great NHL forwards that came over. Jack is playing with Vatrano, Glendening and Ryan.
Skating has been great per usual but Hughes is getting knocked off the puck a lot.

Normally he is a very good goalie! He is probably still suffering from the final defeat, where he was not completely innocent himself. It's all psychology, too.Finnish goalie was absurdly bad. Every goal was weak. He doesn’t belong to this level.
