Finland saved at least 1 point, so they are still leading the group. I think 7 of 9 possible points from the first 3 games against Canada, Slovakia and USA isn't bad.
Especially because nobody expected it from this team. Everyone in Finland was moaning how bad the squad is and they can even be relegated etc....

Most fun game to watch in the tournament so far. Congratz USA

Kakko didn't score this time but holy shit this kid is strong on the puck!

Can't wait to see him play with team Finland that has actually good players besides him.

powerhouse American team has still not looked very impressive think their d and goaltending will be the downfall...I think Sweden and Russia are the 2 clear cut favs

The sweep before the game-winning goal was not seen by the referees.

However, this was a wakeup call for Team Finland. This kind of B team can't win with this kind of goaltending and personal mistakes. Young Kakko is not a saviour in every game.

Well, it's also good to note that Vehviläinen isn't playing any meaningful games after this one anymore.

How did J hughes look? All i am seeing in this thread is about kakko

This was a pro Kakko thread. If Hughes had scored or done well it would have been luck :D. Hughes is not getting prime minutes because of the amount of great NHL forwards that came over. Jack is playing with Vatrano, Glendening and Ryan.

Skating has been great per usual but Hughes is getting knocked off the puck a lot.

I think Hughes is obviously not getting the same treatment as Kakko does, just because of the rosters of the teams. That being said, Kakko was an impact player with Finland tonight (and the two games before) and Hughes was not for USA (Q.Hughes was though, got the GWG assist after all). That doesn't mean Jack Hughes is bad or that he might not go first though. Stuff like this judged on potential and not just by the fact that who is more ready player now. I think Kakko is the latter, but in few years Hughes might be better.

Hughes only played 9 minutes, he's being buried in a team filled with NHL players. Got a feeling that he's not going to get the chance to shine in this tournament.

Finnish goalie was absurdly bad. Every goal was weak. He doesn’t belong to this level.
Normally he is a very good goalie! He is probably still suffering from the final defeat, where he was not completely innocent himself. It's all psychology, too.

So it was Keller who sweeped Tyrväinen's legs in the OT, in a perfect world IIHF should look in to that, but eh, let's see.

Must give full credit to Jalonen for how he managed to build this team. Annual FEL contender the team would be and would likely do somewhat decently in KHL too if played over whole season.

USA was better in this game, but on-ice happenings didn't go to USA in ratio of how much more talent they have in their roster. Jalonen's roster managed minimize the ill-effects of their handicaps. Good game! Congratz US!
