Hughes only played 9 minutes, he's being buried in a team filled with NHL players. Got a feeling that he's not going to get the chance to shine in this tournament.
Its not about shining for Jack. Hes there for experience and to learn from his teammates and coaches. And he gets to hangout with his brother at an awesome event

Jack can score zero points throughout the entire tournament and he will still have taken away a lot from it instead of sitting home

Too many experts everywhere, who cares about the #1 pick? As long as Kakko ends up in a good environment. It's not even a discussion who's the better player.

I think Kakko was the best player on this game. It's a shame he didn't get to run that PP in OT..

Gratz USA. Next time we'll beat your ass ;)

That's a first. I've never seen a play that was reviewed and deemed as a game misconduct brushed off and just said that with his next game misconduct the player gets additional 2 games as a punishment :D

Refs really dropped the ball here, could someone translate what Jalonen said? He seems really furious.

" Catastrophe, a complete joke! This means that it's okay to kick others on the ice and you'll only get a warning. A f***ing incomprehensible decision! If you are an NHL-player, its okay to kick. Doesn't go into my goddamn sense of justice."

"It's not about whether we won or lost. It's about player safety and the morale of referees and of the disciplinary committee. First the referees shat their pants and then the committee shat their pants."

"Keller got a warning because Tyrväinen didn't injure himself. Before the tournament we were told that injury doesn't affect penalties anymore, that only the foul matters. Now the committee turned it around in front of an NHL-player."

"The committee could have shown here that it's not okay to kick others on the ice. But no. They have no respect for the players nor player safety."

And in an another interview:
"We know what would have happened if roles were reversed, or if an Italian player would have kicked Patrick Kane from behind, would he be suspended? Everyone knows that yes he would. For sure. That's what is extremely sad about this."

It's the Finnish culture. Mistakes are not tolerated here, and there are no second chances. Everyone laughs at you if you make a gaffe.
That's the most idiotic thing I've seen said about Finland, and that includes the Chinese tourists we're swimming in here down south. I don't believe your nihilism is the common case even there up north, no matter how crazy Laplanders you are. Or maybe it's just a sunless winter thing.

It actually does apply well to other parts of Finland. As my friends on Xbox Live (whom I've played with for ~10 years and are around my age) say when we're playing World Of Tanks, "if you're looking for tee and sympathy, you've come to wrong place". My relatives have taught me the true meaning of "tough love" as well.

Okay but I took that one for granted. Maybe I missed the original point by a barn door or so...

In my defense, fish have no word for water.

What a sneaky goal by Johnny Hockey there. Looked like he was behind the goal line.
