Sure, they're a great hockey nation.

Just strange to be so dominant at the group stage but have issues in the elimination games.

Thats Sweden for you

"Sämst när det gäller" dont know the english word for this! but like Worst when its matter moste or something like that:D

Didnt know that, that adds even more reasoning .Probably the first time kid has had a injury like that ,might be a bit for him to overcome .Kid hasnt forgotten how to play hockey ,he is just having a tough go of it .He is still just a teenager ,give him some time
He also just came off a rib injury, which could explain why he looks incredibly tentative out there. I don't think it's a coincidence that he and Point have looked so "off".

The so called 'star power' on this team is too young and too weak to be true stars. There is no alpha dog amongst this group, no game changers.

I respectfully disagree with you. 4 of the top 5 scoring players in this tournament have yet to be drafted.

Age is hardly an excuse for this team, particularly when we have so many highly touted first rounders who have torn up leagues populated by players far older and stronger than them...

40 goal Jr scorer that hits like Mack truck and a mean streak. Simple.

Wait till he actually grows into his body and get his man strength. Scouts aren't paid to predict how prospects develp when they are 19. They need to have the foresight for when a player is 22.

Will hockey IQ magically develop when he gets his man strength?

Just hysterically bad coaching. I'm so frustrated with the state of coaching and management in hockey.

What I think:

Beauvillier-Strome-Konecny
Gauthier-Barzal-Marner
Crouse-Stephens-Point
Perlini-Quenneville-Chartier
Virtanen

That fourth line + Virtanen should rarely play. IDGAF if Point, Perlini, and Virtanen are "supposed" to be top six players on this team. Especially the latter two don't deserve to be playing any minutes.

he was an awesome player before it, completely different than he is now. he had an incredible shot, and played like a bull. just hasn't been the same since, and has tracked really bad for a 6th overall pick.

blah blah blahy blah, yeah yeah we knows Canada is the best hockey nation in the world, we usually lost because all our players are in NHL blah blah blahy blah :shakehead

He has a point tho. We need to be better in elimination games when it REALLY matters. But still, 36-0 is impressive.

Heh yeah.

My guess is that since we often have a team with a lot of pro experience, we don't step on mines as often as most junior teams. However, the further on we go the more talent becomes the deciding factor and we lose that edge.
No real surprise Sweden always has a competitive team, they are a hockey powerhouse.

Virtanen might be one of the worst world junior players I've seen play for Canada. He is just so bad. Bonehead penalties and creates 0 offense. He has a negative impact on this team. And Lowry continues to play him.

If you guys were underachieving and pissed off would you have answered differently? They are pissed off and they should be

I loved that interview.
Hopefully the team responds and actually shows what they're capable of against the Fins.

Honestly though, I'm just gonna be focusing on Puljujarvi, Laine, and Juolevi. The Fins are well represented this next draft

This year's Gauthier, Murphy, Lipon, Della-Rovere etc.

Canadian fans pick one player and **** all over them.

Virtanen hasn't been very good, I'm a big Virtanen fan but he hasn't been close to good enough. That doesn't mean he won't succeed in the NHL people are just saying he's playing poorly.

Sweden cruising to semifinal without william Nylander! Canada tried but came short against a superior team, So bashing canadian top prospects shows no understanding for the game, its not a tennisgame.

Canada-Finland will be a 50-50 game slight advantage to Finland for homecrowd who gets them refadvantage. Finland has a couple of forwards but less defence and goalkeeping, Canada pretty the same.

Think Sweden or Russia will take the gold, Russia has shown glimpses of class but need to bring it to 3 periods. If sweden gets Nylander back they will be very very lethal. Have Usa as outsiders but dont think they can bring their A- game in 2 games semi/final hasnt that good lowest level.

He is still a top end prospect, look at players who get hurt in their draft year .We have Colin White who slipped to 21st ,he is over a ppg in the NCAA this season.Virtanen is just dealing with overcoming that injury ,it probably hurt his offseason training routine ,and set him back .Next year he should be much better:handclap:

+1 to you. Quoted for truth.

Why Beauvillier, the 2nd highest PPG player in the Q, is stapled to the bench as this team struggles to score goals, in favour of Perlini, a guy who is not even at a PPG in the O, is the definition of lunacy.

Enough ,kid is 19 years old .And coming off an injury ,this trashing of kids needs to end:nod:

Lowry needs to get roasted a lot more. His coaching has been beyond brutal this tournament and his idiocy is really not helping. Of course, TSN being the total shills they are, they'll never question him.
