Hicketts was the player of the game yet everyone continues *****ing about him. I don't get it, he's small but he's strong, physical, skates well, moves the puck well, and uses his skating well defensively. He's a returning player. Sure Sanheim could use some more ice-time but that doesn't mean Hicketts is a **** player.

It's how he is being used. Lowry is his Jr coach so favours him....to the detriment of the team.

Hicketts had a 3 minute shift in OT. How the hell does that make sense when you have other, elite Jr dmen who are fresh.

As for POG...not surprising since he never leaves the ice so people see his jersey number all game.

And again, Sanheim creates 3 scoring chances on 1 shift....then never sees the ice again. He only had 2 shifts in the 3rd period and OT combined. Yet Joey gets 3 minute shifts.

Barzal at 16 looks like a steal.

Indeed. Islanders got themselves a beauty.

And most people considered him a steal at the time. He was ranked top 10 in quite a bit of lists, this isnt really a surprise.

Dermott and Sanheim both with excellent games tonight.

Dermott is so smart with the puck, always makes the right move. Sanheim is the best offensive defenseman on the team. This pairing needs more minutes if Canada wants a chance to win against Sweden.

HFboards calls steals every draft

Dermott needs to get Ryan Suter minutes

Strome is by far the best player on this team, I wasn't high on him before the draft but wow has he impressed. I thought Marner was the best player on this team coming in but he's been one of the worst alongside Virtanen.

virtanen is the anchor that will bring down team canada.

Except Team Canada last year was stacked... so probably not. People expect Canada (with a population of 35M) to be the best in every single birth year, which is a testament to how far ahead they are.

Population has nothing to do with it. Players, rinks, resources etc. are the things that matter.

If Swiss won today, this is what I expected to see in the post game interviews:

I don't get the Marner hate ... He definitely wasn't the worst player on the team ..( I think that was Perlini , and I am a Coyote's fan). I think they should have put him out on OT earlier rather than later.. He did have a few turnovers.. but so did everyone else...He actually saved a goal a couple of times ..

Strome needs some more offensive people on his line ... It is good to see his line have the most offensive chances considering who the wingers are..

I think they need to spread the offence around a bit.. Maybe switch Virtanen with konecny or Gauthier etc.. as someone suggested earlier..

Well that was embarrassing, not the game so much but reading through this thread. Aren't the majority of us adults, can we not be civil?

Anyway I don't know who was portioning out the ice time but dear god that was noticeably unbalanced, and on the second day of a back to back in a short tournament no less. Yeesh.

Population has a great deal to do with it. I guarantee there's more rinks in USA/Russia/Sweden than all of Canada combined.

Tried to follow the game on here but the maturity level was at an all time low. Good thing I PVR'd the game and can make my own opinion of it.

Lowry overplayed Marner and you can't do that with big ice. He was gassed by OT.

Crouse-Strome-Virtanen were very strong in the third, they should keep that line together.

I actually liked the Strome line after Crouse was put there. But I don't know if Crouse or Virtanen can finish lol

So it looks like Canada is unfortunately poised to finish third in the division. Still think we have a good shot at gold if Lowry can improve asset management
