I think McDavid and Eichel are both showing that the term 'generational talent' is getting thrown around way too liberally these days.
very tough to prove generational talent at WJC...mostly because you're a man amongst boys...you do all the right things but those around you are amateurs. They will shine when they get to the pros.

Crosby was still more of a role player than the main guy. Just like this tournament with McDavid. These four games aren't going to make or break his career.

Really? Because most people on here seem to think you can judge the next 20 years of his career based on the last eight shifts.

He hasn't even come close to showing his best yet, and he is still doing fine. He's playing with two players who have zero understanding of his game, but there is no point in putting him between anyone else at this point since the other lines have all gelled.

Didn't really get why Tyler Motte and Miles Wood were on the team, but they're proving they don't belong.

Very entertaining game so far.

More importantly, I don't know why both are playing in the top 9 while Compher is stuck toiling away on the 4th line.

Groulx needs to move Fabbri up with McDavid & Lazar. Virtanen is not looking comfortable out of position at LW.
Personally, I'd move Fabbri up with McDavid and move Virtanen to the right side. Lazar would excel in a more defensive role (where the goals will still come), while Virtanen and Fabbri have the offensive skill to convert for McDavid. That third line has had one great game, so it's not like breaking them up is going to kill chemistry.

Lazar and Virtanen are both VERY good players, though. Hell, Lazar IS an NHLer. I still think that line should be juggled but you can't blame McDavid's linemates for the way he's looked. You might not be playing with NHL pros out there but, once you get to the NHL, you'll also be facing the Bergeron's and Webers of the world too, playing against superior NHL-systems and coaching. They both should be showing more, especially at this level. It's not going to be easier, once they make the pros.

Could not agree more.

Domi is almost two years older than both of them.

What would they be doing to competition if they were a full two years older?

We'll never know because they will likely be top ten NHLer scorers by then. Put that into perspective when comparing them to Domi, for instance.

I honestly hope the Oilers get Eichel over McDavid.

I think McDavid will be a great player but he has the same issue as Crosby.

Its easy to get into his head and the pressure put on him is obviously getting to him.

Eichel has an edge to his game, and it would be hilarious to see him and Nurse as team mates.

Not sure why we as Canadians are complaining about officiating.

I didn't like the call on Ritchie but Larkin's high stick was a follow through. And we scored on it.

The officiating has been even both ways. I bought the Ritchie call changed the game a bit and that's why we're seeing more calls and more chippy stuff.

The thing people have to remember about Gauthier is that he wasn't selected to play a big role in the early round robin games.

I've said from the start he'd start showing his worth in the more serious games, not against teams like Germany or Slovakia.

Just my two cents.

thats my thinking as well. I like Lazar but i dont think he is the type of guy u want playing with mcdavid.

Alright boys, time to win this one handily, flame out in quarter finals and make Canadians all across this great country break things.
