If you dont like this tournament, why are you here? Shoo -go post in a thread about something you're interested in.

I like the tournament, but there are people who need a massive reality check.

There is no need to "hate" kids playing for their country.

USA really struggled to move puck out of their zone, which had to do with Canada's speed + physicality on forecheck.

It wasn't that bad. It was a problem with their first game of the tournament versus Finland.

Their problem is their anemic offensive zone game.

I agree with the Domi smug talk, all it does is give the American's fire for next time they meet.

Because although he was right in his face, and even brushed him, Demko's position was never moved due to contact, and Lazar was seemingly in possession of the puck at the time.

Of course all of this is speculation since unlike many in this thread I do not pretend to have an intimate understanding of the IIHF's version of the rule.

Isn't there a crease rule that Lazar potentially violated as well? If he did violate it, I wish IIHF would just abolish any crease violation. It's very stupid, called at random, and extremely hard to call if a player truly did it.

If Gauthier can carve out a Malholtra type role then he'll be well worth a late first round pick. I hate the Leafs too, but ragging on a kid on Team Canada because of it is a bit much for my liking

Agreed. He is playing his heart out as s the rest of the team. All this sniping at Gauthier and Virtanen is ridiculous

Domi looks great except I can do without te showboating and cocky grin.

This tweet is right:

@hunterhockey: Max Domi is an impressive young player but I'd like him more if he stopped the tongue wagging and Captain Morgan poses.
Then someone complains hockey players are too vanilla and they act like robots.

Domi was Brad Marchand out there today. The good Brad Marchand. The one who scored and agitated his way to a cup.

Not every kid is Curtis lazar and you can bet his teammates weren't complaining today. Which should be all that matters.

Hating that a person was scored solely to win draws and take faceoffs but can't make a pass and fans on his shots that aren't scooped backhands is fine.

Relax.

You can't enter the crease before the puck. Thus no crease violation on this play as lazar entered the crease after mcdavid's shot.

You could argue lazar interfered but it's pretty hard to tell even in slo-mo that the puck wasn't already going into the net before contact.

Obviously a biased Canadian here but I could live with that rationalization the other way I think.

 even when Reinhart dominates a game, a lot of people still can't see it. He did absolutely everything that game, including giving domi 2 tap-ins.

A lot of viewers just watch the games if you get what i mean.

According to Ferraro on the broadcast, you're not allowed in the crease unless the puck is already inside the blue paint as well, meaning as long as Lazar entered the crease after the puck (which I think he did judging by the replay) it was a legal play from that perspective.

A ridiculous comment.

These kids owe you nothing. There is no reason to hate them.

Grow up.

Exactly. These kids are playing for a team they grow up dying to play for. This country doesn't need to tear them down and make unpaid children scapegoats in a relatively meaningless tournament at the end of the day.

I will admit I used to take this tournament far too seriously. Now I'm a decade older than these kids and it makes me feel bad.

Reflects my feeling exactly. Except I am much older. lol

Yup.

The 3 active stick breakups on that one PK stand out as well.

Since the puck was still loose in the crease after McDavid's shot and Lazar's path didn't impede Demko from making a save, the goal is counted.

If I'm right, the specific rule is 95.3 in the IIHF rulebook.

Reinhart is gonna be a gem. Buffalo got a good one. I love what they're doing there with that rebuild. Edmonton should take notes.

I don't hate the person. I don't know him.

I hate bringing specialists that can't move up the lineup.

I've been saying this since last year. You want guys who can play all over the lineup not specialists. Just glad Canada only brought one this year.

I've been very unimpressed with Fabbri ever since the Germany game. A lot of plays seem to die on his stick, he tries to dangle around players instead of cycling the puck along the boards or making a short pass. He and Paul are dragging Petan down IMO but I can't see that line being shaken up yet.
