USA really struggled to move puck out of their zone, which had to do with Canada's speed + physicality on forecheck.

I wish Canada didn't resort to the cheapshots and yapping, but it was obviously their gameplan from the get go. You can't really say if it worked or not because Canada is still the better team. I personally don't think it did much of anything.

If Gauthier can carve out a Malholtra type role then he'll be well worth a late first round pick. I hate the Leafs too, but ragging on a kid on Team Canada because of it is a bit much for my liking

I mean, is it really Paterson/Binnington/Subban/Visentin/Wedgewood/Roy's fault that while they were the best goalie in all of Canada at their age, they were only the 3rd or 4th best goalie in the entire world at the time? Give them a freakin' break.

This result was never in doubt.

Usa only scored that 3rd goal cuz canada lowered it's guard for a brief moment.

Exactly. These kids are playing for a team they grow up dying to play for. This country doesn't need to tear them down and make unpaid children scapegoats in a relatively meaningless tournament at the end of the day.

I will admit I used to take this tournament far too seriously. Now I'm a decade older than these kids and it makes me feel bad.

Cheapest play in the game was Deangelo punching Domi. Everything else was hockey.

Cheap is what people on losing ends call things.

Cheapshot wasn't the right word perhaps. I'm talking about all the scrums they initiated (eg. Nurses penalty, Virtanen jabbing USA player in back of head, Duclair did a bunch of stuff)

Good game for Canada after the first period. Two goal difference was fitting. I liked what I saw from the fourth line. Comrie probably gives way to Fucale going forward, as he scrambled a bit too much and gave up a weak third goal.
