Been saying this team with this core isn't going anywhere and it all started when Dubas overpaid 16 and 34 and then proceeded to give Willy everything he wanted when holding out for 2 months. Sad thing is we keep doing it. Team has regressed even more this year, Dubas left us with barely any drafts and the farm system doesn't have you excited. Don't have a proven goalie, our D sucks and the 3rd and 4th lines year after year aren't doing much. Management though just keeps rolling with it. Shanahan and Dubas should have been shown the door along with Keefe. I told a buddy of mine couple weeks ago this team wasn't going to make the playoffs. As much as I'd like to see a cup or even decent playoff run I also hope they falter and we see some massive changes. The core needs a change. Or you roll with this for another year and say goodbye to Marner and Tavares and reconstruct this team with Matthews , Nylander and Reilly who is the only one that's not a greedy SOB.

You're focusing on regular season standings as if they f***ing matter. We will make the playoffs. Once you're in, home ice doesn't matter. Who you face does. not. matter. Anyone can beat anyone.

The REAL issue is we cant get that EXTRA GOAL. No killer instinct. Its an offensive issue. Not a defensive one. The goal to kill a team and take their will away. We're up 2-0 and can't get the 3rd.

The other team has the f***ing ability to score 2 measly goals. Its a professional hockey team. a 2-0 lead is NOTHING. So Score 3, 4, stop hitting the f***ing post, get one off your ass, I dont care - find a way to get that extra goal. We never do. Now the game is tied. Its next goal wins. And we cant SCORE AGAIN.

I'm literally focusing on blown leads, our lack of wins, our single playoff series round win in 20 years, our massively overpaid core, our poor coaching.

We're currently one point in the playoffs with a team that is undeniably top 5 in the league from a talent prospective, and you aren't even questioning things? 21 wins in 42 games and you're sipping on margaritas kicked back and acting if those of us actually paying attention are delusional ones? Interesting take.

There are a plethora of issues with this mess of a team, we are a shittier version of the Oilers.

I have no idea who you're arguing with in regards to the lack of killer instinct, it's one of the main issues with this loser core and I've been one of the most vocal about it on these boards for years about it, that doesn't change the fact that their defensive game this season has also been putrid, this team has a plethora of issues, they're a mess.

The answer is pretty simple. All of the core got their massive pay checks. They don't have to care now. Mitch is the only one to not be reupped but he's still making 10 mil so who cares.

Also gio and Brodie got washed at the same time and we rode them a year or two too long while not developing any replacements

I want them to win. I definitely wanted them to beat the Oilers. But at the same time I really, really want Keefe fired (would love to see Shanny go to but that ain't happening) and know that the only way Keefe gets the boot is if they go on a losing skid.
