If there is one complaint I'd make about the previous GM it's that he didn't draft more than 1 smart defender.

It has, but people seem to forget that the cap stopped growing too... those signings were done with cap growth in mind, including Tavares. We got fckd by the static cap, no other way around it.

We can complain about the signings, but if that cap kept growing, we keep guys like Hyman, and prob have some space to build out a better D-core.

Marner is clueless. Sorry, you don't show up every night. Most nights this year, it's been a subpar effort. It was actually a good effort tonight, but beaten badly by a much better team. If you really think you've play hard, and "awesome", someone needs to reset your reality and expectations.

Why should Mitch kill himself? He earned about $120,000 today for working 20 minutes. It's off to lobster dinner paid by their per diem, into an expensive comfy hotel bed, followed by a massage and chill out next day. im still happy we signed him, but hes declining RAPIDLY.

Rielly brings it every night.
Nylander floating again.
No one else provided any offense.
Brodie was Brodie.

Short list?

Let's call it like it was.

Jones wasn't good.
Gio existed.
Benoit, McCabe, Brodie were okay.
Timmy was good.
Rielly was excellent.

Matthews was good for spurts, but man he gets gassed later in games. Like if we need a late game-breaker off a rush it sure as fck is not going to be him.
Marner was okay for a few shifts, but soft and fumbly for a lot of the game.
Holmberg was okay, but got knocked off the puck in a few key spots.
Knies was not good.
Domi might have been good, but didn't play a lot.
Jarnkrok worked his ass off, but didn't generate much.
Tavares had a couple moments, but it was more of the same. Not good enough.
Nylander was not impressive. Did have some spurts and hit ANOTHER post.
Bertuzzi was working hard, but accomplished next to nothing... again.
4th line was good for the most part. Had a couple heavy shifts, and generated some chances. Did get caught out in their own zone more than once.

PP sucked once again. PK didn't get burned.

I agree the effort level was pretty good compared to what we sometimes get. But they just don’t feel like a quality build.
