Brickwork. Built in the 1930s part of the depression job creation initiative.

Played, visited, etc.

Still standing and in use, a number of renovations, Second pad was added about a generation ago - Denis Savard Arena.View attachment 97475

Oh wow. Whole new facade, re-named after Denis Savard..... they brick up all the windows etc I assume? Retain any of its original character & deco features?

Not quite. The Auditorium 1938, is a year younger than the old Lachine Arena - Claude Morin built in 1937. Also some of the old college rinks and one or two other small minicipality rinks may be older.

September 6, 2011 - the Winnipeg Jets unveil their home and away jerseys for the first time at a ceremony held at 17 Wing in Winnipeg. Players Mark Stuart, Andrew Ladd (captain), Eric Fehr and Nik Antropov disembarked from a Hercules airplane for the unveiling. The colors and logo were inspired by the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The much forgotten 1976 US Olympic hockey team (finished 5th) coached by Badger Bob and featuring Bob Dobek, Steve Jensen, Buzz Schneider, Bob Miller and others. Ron Wilson skated with the squad briefly, but opted out before the games began.

Speaking of politicians, few love hockey more than John Kerry, a frequent participant in celebrity/alumni games.

This was a Reform School was it not? Juvenile delinquents. :naughty:

Great to see the Richard brothers, Claude Provost & Jean Beliveau were that deeply engaged in the community, so many things they & other players did, contributed that no one was ever aware of. Playing hockey, meeting those guys, for many a life changing experience.

Claude Provost was very active in this regard in Rosemount and St. Michel. Maurice Richard in Ahuntsic. Dickie Moore in Park Ex.

Ken Mosdell and Doug Harvey in NDG, especially Harvey

January 22, 1987 - a blizzard hitting the New York City area resulted in what is believed to be the lowest-attended game in modern NHL history when 334 fans were on hand to watch the Calgary Flames and New Jersey Devils. The Devils had expected a crowd of 11,247 which was the number of tickets sold for the game. The fans who attended were rewarded with a 7-5 victory by New Jersey.

Photos from Tuesday night at TD Garden, when the Bruins honored the eleven 20-goal scorers from the 1977-78 team(only Wayne Cashman was unable to attend). We still love the Lunch Pail Gang. Thumbs up!
