Yes Virginia; Buffalo did once have an NBA Team - The Buffalo Braves. I have never forgiven The NBA.

May 16, 1976 - Bobby Clarke of the Philadelphia Flyers congratulating Montreal Canadiens coach Scotty Bowman following the Flyers 5-3 loss in game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals. Montreal won the series in 4 games straight and ended Philadelphia's two year run as defending champions.

July 19, 2010 - Andrew Ladd watching the sunrise from Crown Mountain just north of Vancouver after being flown by helicopter to the location. The Chicago Blackhawks had just recently won the Stanley Cup on June 9 in game 6 against the Philadelphia Flyers. However, due to salary cap issues for Chicago, Ladd was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers on July 1, 2010.

^^^ More fabulous shots.... love the ones of Stanley, Bathgate etc...... And good question there as to whether thats the 6'1" Paul Harrison.... I dont recall him wearing a Plante mask & the goalie in that shot appears shorter.... I'm thinkin thats actually 5'10" Bernie Parent. Pads look like Parents. Harrison as I recall wearing white goalie skates.

Parent. Harrison wore this mask in Toronto as far as I remember:

.... Thanks Howie..... I thought it was Parent.... the mask & his shorter pads & stature, style a giveaway. You guys had Harrison in Buffalo briefly late in his career early 80's.... Retired, became a Cop with the Ontario Provincial Police.

Lol; yes, he was a disaster here in Buffalo.

Funny how some goalies just seem to lose it all at once. Harrison, Allan Bester, Jim Rutherford, Donny Edwards, Bunny Laroque; the list goes on. Also playing on shite teams probably broke their respective spirits too....

Home of the Verdun Maple Leafs (you can see the Leaf there in the gable, not sure if a sign or brickwork).... A Sr team from the 20's into the 40's, along with a couple of Jr clubs playing in the MMJHL & the QMJHL.... producing quite an eclectic collection of pro's.. Maurice Richard, Larry Zeidel, Roly Rossignol, Guy Lapointe etc etc etc.... Did you ever play at or visit that beautiful old building?.. Long gone yes?

1973-75 ca - Pat Hickey (# 16), Mark Howe (# 4), Gordie Howe (# 9) and John Schella (# 2)

Some great John Schella stories at approximately the 12:20 mark of this amazing video on the history of the Minnesota Fighting Saints. Shakey Walton tells an unbelievable story about Schella getting into an altercation with the Fighting Saints' Bill Goldthorpe in the WHA playoffs in 1974. This story is clearly the genesis of one of the many great scenes from the movie 'Slap Shot, ' which as many know the character of Ogie Oglethorpe was based on Bill Goldthorpe.

Wanted to add that one of my favorite parts of this thread is that so many players are identified in the photos. Even players in the background that were not the main stars of the photos. Great job, gents. Keep 'em coming!

February 23, 1966 - goalie Al Smith makes his NHL debut against Chicago. Smith was up from the Toronto Marlboros Junior A team and entered the game at 2:15 of the first period when starter Gary Smith got injured as he pulled a groin when making a save on a Pierre Pilote shot. The other players in the picture are Dennis Hull (# 10), Eddie Shack (# 23) and Al MacNeil (# 19). The Leafs would go on to win the game 3-2.

2011/12 - Tim Brent flips over the boards after a check

So, the internet is a weird place.

My first thought was "that's definitely not Tim Brent". So I went looking for the correct player to identify, based on the jersey style and number. But the only #37 who played for the Canes using that uniform was... Tim Brent.

So I poked around a little more, scratched my head, and then looked for photos of Tim Brent. That's when I found the original of this photo:

Montreal+Canadiens+v+Carolina+Hurricanes+TcjSo6kPLqxl.jpg

So... somebody photoshopped it with a different face, for reasons that I won't even try to guess.

Brickwork. Built in the 1930s part of the depression job creation initiative.

Played, visited, etc.

Still standing and in use, a number of renovations, Second pad was added about a generation ago - Denis Savard Arena.
