The photo with Boomer and Gordie makes me think of a story about how Bruce Norris (the Detroit owner) grudgingly acceded to Gordie Howe's request for a $100,000 annual salary and apparently made some remark about Gordie's wife Colleen during the negotiations. But this was after he apparently (without telling Gordie, of course) agreed to pay Bobby Baun even more money (I believe in the neighbourhood of about $120,000).
