Not sure what is more incredible the goal which is a top 5 GOTY candidate IMO or Ference dropping to his knees and not just standing up and defending the man with the puck?

Same thing happened on the Tarasenko goals against NYR and NJ.

Ference needs to retire. He is the worst defender on the team and thats saying something with our other very poor defenders being Schultz, Nikitin and Aulie (Schultz hasn't looked as bad with Nelson as coach).

Its pretty clear that he has cashed out at this point. He counters his putrid play by being a great citizen with all the programs he organizes, but he still is absolutely terrible. Its a shame because he was brought here as veteran leadership to be a voice over the young players. Then he proceeds to play like absolute **** and calls other players out when he is the biggest offender of poor play and bad mistakes on the team.

Yeah I mean sure its the Oilers, but he went through 4 players, including Ference and Petry (who are NHL caliber dmen). There was also back pressure and he was going full speed. Takes a crazy amount of skill to pull that off.

it was pretty crazy. end to end, dusted four players and then a sick dangle and roofdaddy finish gives it a little extra that most of the other goty candidates don't have. and he's a dman.

and people complaining about the D should re-check what the D did on that tarasenko goal.

Rielly is one of the best picks since Wendel Clark for the Leafs.

Define "one of the best". Top three? Five? Ten? They've found some absolute gems since picking Clark, particularly after the first round.

I actually agree. Would it be even more impressive against an actually good team? Sure. But this isn't a goal that's scored every day, no matter the defense. Terrific goal and will for sure be top 5 or maybe top 3 at the end of the year.

As for Rielly, he's one of the few Leafs players that I'm jealous that they have. Maybe the only one.

True and interesting fact both Wendel Clark and Morgan Rielly are alumni of the notre dame hounds team in wilcox, saskatchewan. Glad Burke drafted Rielly.

That speaks volumes about the Leafs' organization - I agree with you - he's the only Leafs' gem. Even non-Leafs fans notice this.

Leafs GMs have been atrocious over the years including Burke who was lucky enough to draft Rielly. I think that was more luck than good judgement.

The Leafs needed to rebuild from last year and didn't. Leaf fans have confidence that they will do it this time. Haha..... get real.

The Leafs need more players like Rielly - heart and the skill to go with it. They lack this in a big way.
