It may not have made a difference but it seemed like very conservative coaching by Canada regarding the goalie pull and then putting him back in on an offensive zone faceoff.

Drysdale played 25+ minutes and was hung out to dry multiple times including on both goals. He's out there babysitting Byram, who was doing only god knows what on that second goal. Sanderson was better tonight, as was team USA overall, but tournament wise I don't think that it's close. Either way, we're likely going to have to agree to disagree.

Yea, Byram was lost defensively, Drysdale stepped up in 2nd period for Canada. Both Sanderson and Drysdale poised for great success, especially if Drysdale adds more weight.

When it works. ;)

When it doesn't, the team is accused of turtling and ceding momentum.

I'm usually not a fan of that tactic, but it worked. They did an amazing job in the third. Canada had a lot of shots but they were almost all crap.

Is that the excuse for Byfield this time? He was flat out bad, outside of that game against Switzerland.

Kaliyev was also pretty bad

How about the excuse that they are all kids and this tournament after a year of hockey being closed down due to COVID doesn't determine their futures... Were you talking shit to Avs fans after MacKinnon's WJC performance too? Kaliyev wasn't bad either.

Knight was good. Yes, Canada didn't have a lot of shots but a lot of those bounces didn't go in either.

Whenever you basically allow the other team to pelt the crease with pucks is a bit of a gamble.

But it's a luxury they had with the lead and Canada never forced them out of the shell by scoring one goal and making it interesting.

I agree. US came out to prove something. I imagine all they heard was team Canada this, team Canada that and they came out with a **** you attitude. Honestly great game and good for them and a great lesson for the young Canadians
I agree also, I actually prefer when we lose a game either in the pre-tournament games or the round robin, kinda like the US and Russia in their first game this year. Listening to someone else's anthem HAS to motivate you.

Whatever. Drysdale laid a complete egg tonight. Gave it away several times in his zone. Got toasted wide twice by Americans. Got himself stuck on the ice and was a statue on the first goal. Was a minus 2 on the game and make zero impact offensively. His simple game worked vs the JV schedule but once he faced a good team. He played shook. Drysdale was Just awful in that game.

Cozens too. Totally soft and invisible. Was afraid to take a hit to move the puck out of the zone and his turnover up as goal #2.

Krebs and #12 all laid eggs tonight. McMicheal played selfish and couldn’t hit the the ocean from the edge of the beach. When that much of Canada’s top of roster players were lousy. You get shut out. You lose.

Byram was so lost it’s almost like he wasn’t even on the ice for that first goal
