reminded me that this 6'4" giant of a guy is literally still a kid.

A great game from Canada, they made Finland look like a terrible hockeyteam at times. Well deserved, but I hope our young guns can step up even more in the future (Barkov, Laine, Puljujärvi, Aho, Teräväinen, Rantanen(who i liked alot!!!)), and maybe knock you out in the elimination games. 2018 Olympics would be the ideal place, if NHL participates that is.

Its time to start summer, happy holidays for you guys and see you in autumn.

Canada's defense was amazing today. Kind of reminded me of what Canada did to Sweden in the olympics in Sochi. The Finns couldn't make anything happen. They had a few chances on the PP, but that was it. Well deserved win by Canada. I'm looking to forward to the WC in Toronto in the fall. :handclap:

I'm pretty amazed to see how much anti-Russian propaganda there has obviously been in Canada in recent years and how people (or at least posters on this forum) have bought all of it.

And secondly, why the hell should Putin speak Russian in Russia? Anyone of you Canadians, wanna speak some Russian with me?

But of course, better team won today. I was dissapointed with Finns, they just stood no chance, which made the game overall frustrating and boring to watch.

Relax. You're reading a tiny minority of people. Most of us understand he spoke Russian in a Russian arena to a crowd that contained many Russians.

It's very understandable.

I can't believe how fixed that game was/. McDavid's goal shouldn't have couldn't. Firstly, He bumped Koskinen and secondly, there 3 canadiens in the crease when the goal was scored. How much were the refs paid to look the other way on that??

as long as ur not parked in the blue ice before the puck gets there...it's all good

Well its pretty obvious he would speak russian in Russia don't you think:D?!

But i agree with you! why should other counterys talk english just because the english speaking ones is to lazzy to learn other language:D

It hasn't been that bad in this thread.

Coach Jalonen wanted Finland to play trap and that was part of the reason why we got this far and part of the reason why Finland lost tonight. There were no fore checking in the third period and Canada had time to make d-to-d passes etc. Also it was funny that sometimes Finland tried to enter the zone by dumping but other forwards did not go in full force to offensive zone because they thought about defense first all the time even when they were in offensive zone.

Spot on... Kari Jalonen is not near Westerlund or Jukka Jalonen

Canada was really strong today, very impressive. Finland didn't have a chance really. Still great tournament for Finland.

I don't see the big deal. Yeah it sucks if you wanted to represent your European country but it should be competitive hockey and it should win over viewers if it's marketed well.

Do we really want to see Canada, Finland, Russia, the US and Sweden walk over a bunch of comparatively bad teams? This way every game will be competitive.
It's a HUGE deal. With two more legitimate teams, you have a prestigious international tournament. By adding two gimmick teams, you automatically turn it into a joke tournament.

Awesome reactions from canadians after they won, it shows that it really matters for them to win this and they love it, just like last year.

Congrats Canada! Absolutely deserved win tonight. They outplayed Finland, schooled them in this game, outworked them, but props and kudos to Finland, they played hell of a tournament, and have bright future ahead of them and exciting times.

I love it for Canada, I love your players, I love Canada as a country, your anthem... My 2nd favourite country. I am very happy that I was able to see both Canadian teams that won championships (2015, 2016). Both in Prague, I hope I will be able to see 2017 team too!

Congrats to Canada. Can't even be mad. It's almost unfair how much better their team is compared to everyone else in the WHC level. They're unbeatable when they have the motivation to win.

That being said, im proud of my boys as well. And in a way it was probably a good thing for the young guys like Laine and Aho to lose for a change. The way we got dominated shows the kids how much work lies ahead.
