Kingston, N.S.
He had a good game, but he's still a bad goalie, and that was the deciding factor.

I think the deciding factor was Killorn having a wide open net in OT from about ten feet out and missing the net by a mile. Also MacKinnon just bunting the puck out of the air wide by inches in OT could have ended it. Too easy to blame the goaltender when our shooters were 0 for 4 in the SO.
I give the Swedes full credit for their win, it was anybody's game but the anybody turned out to be them.

Congratulations Sweden. It would have been better if you won without a shootout.

At the very least, Canada can practice the shootout because they seem to suck at it. You'd think these players would improve since it was introduced in the NHL.

That's funny, I saw multiple occasions where the Swedish players just laid out flat on their stomach once a stick was tapped on their leg. One big example in overtime was Landeskog in the neutral zone, I don't know if anybody else caught it, but he was the perfect example.

No Swedish player filmed they way the Canadian player did.

Meh, if anything this just shows how excellent a tournament Marner had if the most he can come up with to nitpick is that he wouldn't use him as a shootout option.

Yep. Ended up with 12 points. Only 3 20 year olds have done better. He tied Sundin, and is behind Nash, Lindros, and Bergeron. Great company.

That Nylander guy? He tied Gretzky for the most points by a 21 year old at the WHC.

Here's hoping that this is the last WHC either of them have to play in a while.

H. Lundqvist played injured. He told the reporters now that he thought that he wouldn't be able to play earlier today. Some issue with one of the knees.

I was good with 5 or 6 guys left in that situation. I'm sure the fact Marner was a better scorer this tourny came into play as part of the decision. Would have been fine with Scheifele too but I dont think King Hank wasnt letting Canada back in. Either way, shootout is a brutal way to end things.

I think most would agree not having Scheifele in the shootout with Mackinnon, ROR and Point keep it alive as the first 4 would be 2nd guessed. We lost, and that is fine in a shootout. But we are allowed on a main board to 2nd guess the selections. And IMO I would have shot Scheifele over Marner. You may disagree, but put down the over defensive team allegiances.

Good job by Sweden, deserved win. It is always annoying to lose via shootout, but that's the IIHF. I thought that the game was pretty even, Sweden scoring a fluke goal and Canada scoring an undeserved goal (powerplay derived from Konecny's flop). Disappointing that it was decided in a shootout, but otherwise I thought it was a good tournament for Canada's young guys.

I have loved the games between Sweden and Canada since I was a kid. Probably the main reason I started to like hockey.

The offensive play, the hitting, the mental game, the intensity, the atmosphere... the way I like hockey being played, very entertaining and exciting.

Meh, Sweden basically had their A team, Canada had their F team.

Would have been nice if McDavid/Doughty/Weber/Price/Seguin/Benn/Tavares showed up.
