PGT: Gold Medal Game - May 21 - Canada (1) vs Sweden (2) (SO) Part II

I heard somewhere we have never won a gold medal game against Canada before. Canada is amazing but that's still pretty astonishing for a hockey nation like Sweden. Just sucks it had to be in a shootout, doesn't sit quite right even though I'm happy.

I feel the same way after shootouts wins.

It is no excuse for gold medal game since it is the last game and OT/SO rules are already different for each stage.

Yeah, but if you are going to use it for all elimination games, I understand not changing it for the final. I still dislike it, but accept it in this scenario.

Why not nitpick MacK as a shootout option then, who scored less goals than Marner this season. Your veiled agenda is as clear as day..

I see the point of it in tournaments except in the Gold Medal games. There is nothing following up the final game. Just get rid of shootouts in finals.

I love shootouts personally. It takes skill and balls to win it.

Maybe if you didn't have a history of belittling Marner at any opportunity. Why not bash the overall shooting selections then? Why just Marner. I mean, Scheifele had a better season than any of the other shooters? Why just the one you constantly ranked as 9th in his draft class?

He's a Jets fan now, it only makes sense that he'd want the Jet in over the Leaf player.

I was good with 5 or 6 guys left in that situation. I'm sure the fact Marner was a better scorer this tourny came into play as part of the decision. Would have been fine with Scheifele too but I dont think King Hank wasnt letting Canada back in. Either way, shootout is a brutal way to end things.

Yes, I had exactly this feeling ;-) well I honestly think he has learned a lot this WC. I also heard he is a big NHL nerd/lover which I like.

Canada usually find ways to win. I on the other hand was 100% sure that Canada would win because of that situation.

This whole tournament? I don't think Marner belongs in the NHL yet, the Leafs in order to sell hope to their fans rushed Marner. Lawson Crouse is better if you ask me and TWS.

When I started reading his post I thought maybe he'd give nylander some credit but nope, takes a shot at marner. You gotta give it to the guy though, he's consistent.

Death, taxes and Interactif taking shots at the Leafs.

Poor guy is heartbroken that Willy and Marner are stars now. Lawson Crouse > Marner and Ritchie > Nylander according to him.

That's funny, I saw multiple occasions where the Swedish players just laid out flat on their stomach once a stick was tapped on their leg. One big example in overtime was Landeskog in the neutral zone, I don't know if anybody else caught it, but he was the perfect example.

It sucks that it had to end this way, but I didn't think Canada deserved to win anyway. Congratulations Sweden!
