Ignoring for a moment the camera, if we assume that it does get called, if Canada goes down two men, would Russia still have pulled the goalie to play 6 on three?

Has anyone ever seen a 6 on three powerplay? That would have to be a pretty mighty triangle.

I seem to recall a 6 on 3 from the WJC within the last few years. It just looked like mayhem. Since Russia already had the goalie pulled for 6 on 4, I imagine that he would have stayed out. It would have been something to see.

I don't know if this has been posted...

This post needs to be seen by more people.

This rule doesn't apply because the camera was mounted to the backside of the glass and not situated above the ice surface. It was out of play. Now if it was a sky-cam above the ice, yes the rule would apply. But that's not the situation here.

No it wasn't, there's a picture in this thread showing it. Linesman called it going out of play directly, ref saw it hitting the camera and called it correctly. 6-3 powerplay wouldn't have been a guaranteed goal either even with Russia's powerplay not shining in the game so...

Everybody talks crap. However, why does your side always bring up unrelated issues as a means to demean?

Win with class, keep the discussion to the WJC.

You say "your side always", which does two unfair things. Lumps everyone from a nation together and then after lumping everyone together you say they "always" do this negative thing. You then ask to keep the discussion classy?

Do you not see the problem here? You walk up to anyone and tell them "you guys always do this negative thing" and you're going to get upset comments back.

It's basically kicking someone in the shin and then getting upset when they fight back.

There will be more chapters in the Canada v Russia hockey rivalry.

This win was especially sweet though, down 3-1 in the 3rd period after already losing 6-0. It was a heart and soul never say die attitude to pull this out.

So proud of those Canadian boys they earned it. Russians battled their hearts out too, that game could have went either way.

I was there in 1999 in Winnipeg when our guys, Canadian's gassed a lead in the final period...

A lot of pain felt for Canadian fans... I am sure this stings just as bad for Russian fans...

If the refs interruptions for both teams are eliminated a very evenly matched pair of teams... either way is a good way to put it...

It wasn't missed though. The linesman had his eyes on the puck all the way and signaled for a two minute penalty when the refs stepped in to take the leading part.

Well now I’m not as sure, I just saw that post on reddit that shows the camera above the ice surface sticking past the glass.
Hard call either way, if I was a ref I probably would have called it a penalty, but that’s only because I saw the replay. From the on ice officials point of view, they saw it in real time from different angles and know the camera extends over the ice surface.

I think it was a penalty in the spirit of the rules, but maybe not in the hard-core reading of the rules. Either way, tough call.

I was just reposting some funny tweets...

To be clear... I think this was posted by a Canadian fan after the first Russian Goal (score says 1-0 and they did review it).

I just found it funny

This victory has no value or meaning.
It has for those boys. For most of them this was the last time they can win something big together. It's the end of their junior career. They will party hard and then get back to work.

It is a huge thing for these boys. Families, all the support from all the Canadians.. it doesn't get better than seeing the whole country being pumped and happy for you.

The cited rule people are posting does NOT apply. The camera is, in no way, shape, or form, a structural object situated above the ice surface. This should not be difficult to understand.
