It was unexpected for both, looks like. Both are down, whats the sense? :D

Some good physical contact for both. I love this part of the game and especially the energy and passion U20 players play with.

Not to mention anytime it’s Canada vs. Russia it’s a special occasion.

One would think so considering the lengths some people are going to justify a blown call.
I think the outrage about that situation is way overdone. It ain't no ordinary situation.
Contrary to all the outrage about reffing, I think the officials set the tone early. It was up to both teams to get the drift, or not.
The puck hitting the camera was a weird one.
Canada won the game.
f*** all the BS whining and complaining from those living in their parallel universe where they just want Canada to lose.

What a massive complete collapse from Russia after that missed delay of game call from puck over glass.

just crazy.

Yea, can you imagine if canada collasped after the blown call on hayton that actually led to a goal? Russia was still 6 on 4 after the Dudas/camera fiasco and still couldn’t score.

I think most canada fans agree that it should have been a penalty. The problem with this thread is that many of the Russian fans are only pointing at the blown calls that favoured canada, instead of understanding that it happened to both teams.

The missed call on Dudas/camera was negated by the phantom hayton call.

The dive by Dellandrea after the face off was negated by the Russian goalie flopping on the ice without realizing his teammate nudjed him

Russia had spent almost half the 1st period on the power play. That’s where the game was lost.

I am not sure if this was mentioned yet, but Byfield had no ice time tonight.

Did he dress? Was he sick? Or did coach just not trust him at all?

As someone who doesn't care about either teams, Canada was pretty much handed the game with all the 5 on 3s. Pretty pathetic.

That was just beautiful. Also, not to be too much of a homer, but loved the play of Romanov, too. He gave and took some good ones. Aside from the slew of stick infractions, I loved the intense yet mostly clean physical game from both sides.

Romanov caught one of our guys earlier as well.

No side pushed the other around physically and haven’t for years. Lots of big hits and physical play for both sides.

No matter the level, I always enjoy the intensity and all out effort by both sides. The games mean so much to both sides and it’s apparent when we meet with Gold on the line.

Another classic in the long history of great games between these countries.

Not on this GDT... lots of fans saying it was the right call.lol

Agreed about everything else though. You make a great point about all the missed Russian powerplays in first too.

Just finished the game. Can only imagine how much of a tire fire this thread was with all the late penalties, the missed delay of game, and the Hayton call in the 2nd that lead to the 1st goal.

Get your popcorn out.

Hence the blown call.

Mind you, it was initially called a penalty. So it wasn't like they didn't notice the camera was out of play.
It is not a "blown call".
Even now, hours later, does anybody have a completely clear technical interpretation of the IIHF rule?

Also adds to the amazing tradition of Canadian teams coming back late in games... I can't think of another nation (in any sport) that so consistently comes up this clutch when it counts. Truly amazing
