Lol. Just because the Liberals dont know grammar well enough to know that “all thy sons” refers to both genders in this context.....

Plus “In all of us command” is about as inspiring as a dish rag.

man. chill. you're saying the joke. just chuckle and move on

It was a great hockey game. I will not complain about the refs - we lost ourselves. But the game was completely amazing.

Congratulations to Canada - a well-deserved victory, they used all the mistakes of team Russia.

And anyway, I am proud of our team. Our national team showed a very mature and creative hockey. I am still sure that we were better, but we lost today. It is a pity that some hockey players were not able to handle emotions and play in a disciplined manner.

I want to say a big thank you to Valery Bragin. It was a glorious journey. Thank you for all these years when I believed in the victory of our team at any moment of any game. Always, in any match, in the most hopeless situation, it was a real Christmas fairy tale. Thank you very much.

I was really impressed with Russia's structural play. Like you said, very mature hockey. Sometimes you have a great team play a great tourney and still come up short. So it goes. Those kids should leave with their heads up.

Canada got hosed on th holding penalty that led to a goal.
Russia got hosed by not getting a PP by the camera.

We are even
Nah, Hayton clamped down on the stick. Unless you want to see a penalty on the Russian kid for putting his stick to the side of Hayton.

With the way the rule is worded, it’s tough to say.

I now think it was a “questionable” call and not a “horrible” call.

Think of what the point of the delay of game penalty is for.

A player in his own zone clears the puck over the glass and delays the game. The player did just that. He cleared the puck over the glass and delayed the game. It just so happened that there was a camera. No it wasn't directly above the ice surface, there's a reason why the camera is placed there. The camera is out of play.

The IIHF rule book says that if the puck hits the camera, it’s not a penalty, so the refs aren’t to blame.
That's a blatant lie

RULE 135 – DELAY OF GAME/SHOOTING OR THROWING THE PUCK OUT OF PLAY i. A player who shoots, throws, kicks, or bats the puck directly out of the playing area from inside his defending zone anywhere in the rink (except where there is no protective glass) during game action, without any deflection, will be assessed a minor penalty. The determining factor will be the position of the puck when it is played. ii. No penalty will be assessed if a player shoots the puck directly over the boards at the players’ benches but not over the protective glass behind the players’ benches. iii. No penalty will be assessed if a player shoots the puck directly over the boards at any areas of the rink without protective glass directly above the boards. iv. A player who deliberately shoots the puck out of play anywhere on the ice during play or after a stoppage will be assessed a minor penalty. v. A player who lifts the puck from the defending zone and hits the scoreclock or any structural object above the ice surface, causing a stoppage of play, will not be assessed a penalty.

Old foe and great friend.

There will be more chapters in the Canada v Russia hockey rivalry.

This win was especially sweet though, down 3-1 in the 3rd period after already losing 6-0. It was a heart and soul never say die attitude to pull this out.

So proud of those Canadian boys they earned it. Russians battled their hearts out too, that game could have went either way.

For those saying that the puck hitting the camera should have been delay of game, here's what the IIHF rules say:

RULE 135 – DELAY OF GAME/SHOOTING OR THROWING THE PUCK OUT OF PLAY

"v. A player who lifts the puck from the defending zone and hits the scoreclock or any structural object above the ice surface, causing a stoppage of play, will not be assessed a penalty."

Pretty black and white. What a break.

Alright, i believe that's all I got to say about this shameful event. Team Canada won, no one can take that away from them. Nobody will remember how.

Posted this yesterday, but it’s even more relevant now.

I mean, the camera is "above the ice surface" in the same manner that safety netting is above it. I think the spirit of the rule is clearly intended to be structural elements that are directly above the ice surface, but what do I know?

Here you go.

Now you've changed your mind I guess? I guess it's not as simple as that.

And read what I wrote afterwards. I dont go back in time to edit the posts just for the sake of being "right". I didnt know of such rule and by the looks of it the rule is indeed questionable and has some grey area to it.

The way Russians imploded after that non call gives me pleasure they didn't win. Suck it up and try your hardest while there's still time on the clock.
