This! Canadians are such jerks. You see it as prove as you being the best in the world as soon as you win, but when you lose you make excuses. I might remind you that canada have fail to go semi-final 5 year in row before this year, and this year you had a easy road and a lot help from the refs. But yes you where the best team in this tournament, but you never respect when others are winning. Then you make up excuses.

Btw, canada have send similar team many times to wc and failed, last time was 2013.

Btw, olympic/world cup do not count for canada/usa, since you have NHL-refs there.

Top knotch:naughty:

You don't think Best on Best is the true measure of a hockey country? Look at Team USA in this tournament. They had a colleage team representing at the WHC. While i am very pleased to see Canada win and dominate, i don't hold any illusions of this being a true best on best victory. This was a best of the rest tournament and even that is debatable. So its nice to win this tournament but its meaningless in my mind.

BTW everything you typed is nonsense.

Canada is dominant.

Well 2013 they did have a good team. Before that the last time they sent a good team was probably 2008.

As for the Olympics not counting.

Major props to Ovi, Geno and Tikhonov for being the only ones to stay out. :handclap:

And please. Any time you can add a player like Ovechkin to a line up, you do it. Even if he doesn't score, he draws the top shut down guys on the other team, Canada matched Burns, Giroux and ROR against him.

Yes, Canada is and propably always will be the dominant hockey country, producing most quality players in the world. When you look at the popularity of ice hockey in the world and the population of Canada it's quite obvious. No one who has even the slightest idea what he's talking about would ever deny that fact.

Luckily our game is hockey where any country can win a best of 1 tournament, so there's some variety :handclap: well, any 1 from the 6 countries that even play the game seriously anyways.

He also did what he was criticized for in the last 2 games

"Ovechkin doesn't kill penalties or end of game 6-5's because he is a liability"

Last game he helped on the EN goal. Didn't allow any goals.

Today he killed a penalty and created a chance for the guy exiting the box.

Definitely props to those guys.

I think to guys like Malkin and Ovechkin its about honor. Those guys define playing the game with heart.

Malkin and Ovechkin are their best players, and wear that uniform with pride.

Seriously, they don't hesitate to play this tournament every chance they get, and who would blame them if they didn't?

Did anyone think Malkin was way too emotional...almost pissed off?

Ovechkin also kinda looked mad when Malkin shot the puck and didn't pass to him, I think they broke them up next shift. I'm starting to think there might be friction between players in the room.

Was also funny, when Malkin simply took the puck away from one of his team mates to do his own thing
Very selfish

So we should be prepared for Rick Nash and Patrick Marleau?

In both 2010 and 2014 they both played important roles. Nash was on Canada's best line in the 2010 medal round and Marleau was on the top PK unit with Bergeron. Not saying they should be locks for 2018, but they earned their spots in the past Olympics.

Hockey Canada will have some tough choices in upcoming tournaments.

I don't disagree. More of a shot a the 2006 Oly team style resting on laurels.

Missed the game. Checked the score. Found this pic. I think it pretty describes what happened?

Poor Geno, he looks so sad. Respect for these guys :handclap:.

I hated the 2006 selection. Today, I'm glad we failed then. It woke Hockey Canada up in a good way.

I totally agree.

No way Crosby gets left off that team if they could re-do, using the most glaring error.

Stop your nonsense (LMAO). So the Refs helped Canada crush Russia today 6-1? Did the Refs help Canada score all those goals? (LOL). Canada has never sent a very good team such as this one in the five failed QF losses. Look at this year's roster compared to last year's (LOL). The WHC is not Best on Best, so even though am happy they won, winning the WHC does not make you Number 1. I want NHL refs because the European officiating has been horrible watching international hockey the last twenty years. The Swedish team that lost to Canada last year complimented the officials in the Olympic Gold Medal Game. Same with Team USA when they lost to Canada in 2010.

Canada is the Best in the World based on winning the last 4 out of 5 BEST ON BEST tournaments (2014 Olympics, 2010 Olympics, 2004 World Cup and 2002 Olympics). Russia has not won a SINGLE BEST ON BEST TOURNAMENT since 1998. Winning the WHC does not make you best on best. Heck if Team USA had some good players accept their invites- Russia would have been the ones playing in the Bronze Medal Game.

Beside a few, the rest of the team left before the anthem. Why have the Russians become so classless the last few years when they lose in the final? I know nobody wants to watch the opponents celebrate, but there's a proper time to leave and before the anthem is not the right time. I knew they were going to do a quick one when they immediately went to shook hands right after receiving their silver medals. The classless Kovalchuk is one thing, but the coaching staff and managment should have stopped the players and directed them to stay but even they left. This isn't the first time they were sore losers. In 2010 after receiving their silver medals, they immediately took them off :shakehead. I understand that losing in the final is tough but by doing that, they give the impression that they think they're much better than the result and winning gold was their destiny.

last i checked, Canada hammered Russia 7-3 in the quarterfinals in 2010...
