Wasn't able to catch a game until today. Canada looked incredible but seriously, major props to Crosby and especially Ovi for playing.

I hope North American players start taking this tournament as seriously as the European players do.

Is there any chance that Jack Eichel is the best player in this draft?

I don't want to be an ass, but Russia's bitter failures in best-of-best tournaments (like the last two Olympics) really do suck out all the merit from their WC successes.

When Canada or Sweden wins a WC, you know those wins still have value because you can still say with certainty that they're proven contenders when all their best players are available.

It really doesn't matter how many great forwards they have, Russia will always be a pretender until they start producing transitional defense men like Canada and Sweden have. They have a crisis right now because of it.

Did anyone think Malkin was way too emotional...almost pissed off?

Ovechkin also kinda looked mad when Malkin shot the puck and didn't pass to him, I think they broke them up next shift. I'm starting to think there might be friction between players in the room.

Which is kind of weird considering Ovechkin on the same play yesterday passed Malkin the puck.

Ovechkin is actually more of a team player. He was giving his teammates chances. Malkin was trying to do it all himself.

Major props to Ovi, Geno and Tikhonov for being the only ones to stay out. :handclap:

And please. Any time you can add a player like Ovechkin to a line up, you do it. Even if he doesn't score, he draws the top shut down guys on the other team, Canada matched Burns, Giroux and ROR against him.

I think being NHL stars and also the best players from their country they get the big picture. They have class and defy the stereotype.

I think Geno took that silver off as soon as he got it haha

Looks like he is holding it?

Honestly **** the rest of the Russian team for leaving early.

Poor sportsmanship. Really glad they lost today now.

Much respect gained for Geno, Ovi, and Tikhonov.

Russia has failed in the last 4 Best on Best tournaments. They finished 4th in 2006 and lost in the QF to Team USA in the 2004 World Cup of Hockey. They can win as many Gold Medals in the WHC, but when it comes to Best on Best, they fail miserably. They got embarrassed by Canada in 2010, and got embarrassed again last year on home ice by Finland. No class by the Russians today the way they left the ice early after the game.

Ovechkin must be exhausted.

He flew overseas all day Thursday, played pretty well against the US immediately after and today, only a day later aand a handful of days after joining the team, the whole team just got curb stomped by the best Canadian team to field a roster in years...some people seem to think he should have super powers or something...

It's got nothing to do with NHL. Tikhonov barely played in the NHL, and goalie Bob, Tarasenko, Anisimov, Kulemin and Kulikov are all in the NHL as well but didn't stay. 8, 11 and 14 just have more respect for others.

congrats to team canada for a solid, dominating performance (10-0) throughout the tournament.
happy for sid to be the youngest triple gold member, he scores in every major final, that's clutch.

Giroux and Sid's chemistry is amazing.

i'm also very happy for players like Duchene, eberle, hall who answered the call and have represented canada in the past at several tournaments and came up short.

Congrats to Russia on their Silver Medal. However, it is pretty clear that when Canada does send a very good team to this tournament for a change loaded with solid talent, the rest of the world is no match for this Canadian team.

Major props to Ovechkin, Malkin and Tikhonov for sticking around. There are players of all nationalities who could take a lesson in sportsmanship from those three.

Thank you, but there were at least 6 players left. I can see Malkin and Ovi for sure. Obviously Tikhonov.

Three are standing - the rest are heading off. The players to the left of Ovi in that pic are skating off as well. Three stayed - and my hat's off to them for honour.

The rest? Zero respect.

Find another clip where Maclellan said the Russians "stared them down" in warmups and they used that as extra motivation.

Congrats for Canada, you were the best. Wait for next meeting.
P.S. Don't know story about russian team which don't hear canadian anthem ( this is ****ed First Channel, they never show before and after, morons), but sorry for this with respect from Russia.
P.P.S. This was the best WC in last ten years. Come again.
