If Canda couldn't beat this swedish team with their three best centers out, and all of them being top calibre, it would have been weaktastic.

You know you have problem when Patrik Berglund or Marcus Krüger is your first line center and Jimmie Ericsson plays on the first line...

well, in all fairness Babcock tried to even the field a bit by playing Kunitz as much as he did, his goal aside today of course;)

Well maybe Sweden should have picked a better team then?

Canadians use this excuse all the time. if you can't understand that small countries will be more affected by absences, I don't know what else to say.

Canada produces more NHL players per capita than any other country. The population of the Northeastern U.S. alone is much larger than Canada's. It isn't just our population size that makes us so deep.

Anyway, now I'm gonna forget Sweden for awhile. Canada. You are the good guys (the team that is, not some of you posters lol). You don't play dirty, you have a very smart coach, fantastic players, play for eachother, play with a heart despite having the biggest stars, amazing discipline and perfect defense. I wouldn't say best goalie cause he hasn't been truly tested, but as a whole your team is by far best, and the most likeable. CONGRATS!

Oh I just heard, Teemu Selanne MVP - well deserved. Allstar team, Lundqvist picked ahead of Price, also well deserved.

Listen here. The situation for team Sweden has nothing, I repeat, absolutely nothing to do with Canada. Even though it seems impossible for some of you to realize the sun does not revolve around Canada, that is the case.

If we say "it really sucks we missed so many key players", the automatic response is, "well duh, so did Canada". Where the **** does Canada come into the picture regarding the situation for Sweden? Nowhere. So get off your high horses and let us lick our wounds of "could've, should've" in peace.

May I suggest you're doing it in the wrong place if you don't want any Canadian input?

Betcha we wouldn`t have had to sweat it out a bit against Latvia/USA or the Finns
Indeed, since the Finns would have been totally the same team if they got their top-4 centers and top-2 defenceman also.

Another mission the powers have called me away
Another time to carry the colors again
My motivation an oath I've sworn to defend
To win the honor of coming back home again
No explanation will matter after we begin
Unlock the dark destroyer that's buried within
My true vocation and now my unfortunate friend
You will discover a war you're unable to win

I'll have you know
That I've become
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while you're alive
I'm an indestructible
Master of war

Title defended: Sweden no match for Canada in Sochi

Golden again — that has a nice ring to it.

Canada left little — make that NO — doubt which country is home to hockey supremacy by sweeping gold for the second straight Olympics. The men made it look a little — or a LOT — easier than the women in Sochi, but both Canadian teams remained atop the podium.

This time around, the women had the more suspenseful finish, rallying from a 2-0 deficit and prevailing 3-2 over the United States in overtime on Thursday — reminiscent of the men’s victory by the same score over the same opponent at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver.

Sidney Crosby was the overtime hero back then, and he saved his best for last in Sochi as well, scoring a highlight-reel breakaway goal to give Canada some breathing room at 2-0 late in the second period. His much-maligned linemate Chris Kunitz added another insurance marker in the third after Jonathan Toews had opened the scoring in the first, and Carey Price made their offensive efforts stand up in backstopping his second straight shutout of the medal round.

When the buzzer sounded and the celebration began, the scoreboard read: Canada 3, Sweden 0.

Indeed, since the Finns would have been totally the same team if they got their top-4 centers and top-2 defenceman also.

Both the Swedes and Finns clearly would have been more skilled if healthy, but they would have played the same game, and honestly, Team Canada played THE perfect game that a team must play on Olympic ice and I`ll wager, it wouldn`t have mattered if they played fully healthy teams

Viper, we're 9 million, but 1.7 of them are immigrants or children to immigrants. Black/yellow/whatever, we are a very colorful country, and proud of it. If a country accept that many refugees from the whole world one black guy on the team is actually very little...

Very proud to be Canadian today!

Thumbs up to Teemu Selanne who deserves the MVP for sure.

I'd love to have seen Team Sweden with Zetterberg, Backstrom, Franzen and Sedin. Canada was just too much for them without those top forwards.

Geno Rada tweeted this pic, Canada's busiest highway during the Olympic hockey final!

Wow! Imagin you get that Backstrom message minutes from start, Why do they have to tell them just minutes before. And it was allergy medi kit.

Sweden, thank you for a good gold medal game and congratulations on the silver medal. This tournament featured numerous great teams and it is an honor to win the gold against the world's best.

As a Senator fan, Sweden is in great shape for the future. Just on our team alone, you have Karlsson, Zibinajad, and Lehner. I also believe Andre Petersson and Fredik Clauson will surprise and be in the talk for 2018.
