Irrelevant. You trip a guy, it's a penalty. If you're going to call a penalty in OT, you'd better make sure it's a clean one.
It is totally relevant. Guess what would have happened if Chabot never got a penalty? That is right. He would become a breakaway player.

Ha! I just remember the 1998 and 2006 Olympics fondly. Just remember, Finland is missing some guys due to the NHL playoffs so this isn't their strongest team.

This team has 0 players I'd have on Canada's Olympic team... I don't think the nations are close, Canada B beats Finland A.

Once again, congrats to Finland.

No, it's not. The rulebook does not say "trips are allowed if you were just knocked down" or "trips are allowed if you just drew a penalty".

Tripping is a penalty if you trip a guy. Period. Björninen tripped Chabot. It should have been called.

Like Nylander's? But the Canadians were silent ... all crying over one penalty for a high stick. LOL.

Seriously, I did NOT expect some canadian fans to be this mad about the loss. I mean I get it, the reffing was terrible all game, but still. Really weird to see.

This is taking salt to a new level,

But as a swede, damn you Mikael Nord for bringing embarrassment upon swedish hockey even after the team is out.
People make mistakes. The mistake is not being able to review the call so that a mistake can be corrected. The rules need to be changed a little bit.

Bad reffing is a feature of IIHF hockey, we have often suffered from it and everyone has basically told us to man up and stop crying. Finland never gave up and fought hard and skated like hell. A well deserved gold!

Canada B doesn't beat Finland A before they have played. Brazil wins Germany every time aswell in soccer, because they have better players. Also England beats Netherlands every time with their B team. You understand why that argument is pointless?

This is professional sports and team game. It's not something you play in your mind or on a paper. Obviously Canada is the best country in hockey, but they could lose to any country in major tournament too.

I want to congratulate Finland on their win, it was a heck of a game between two very good team! And also congratulation to Canada on a amazing tournament. I have to say that Canada showed a lot of heart and determination in coming back in this game. Those 3 penalties at the start of the 3rd was the difference in this game. Very proud of Canada they never gave up!

Björninen was not "knocked down". He was tripped. Refs usually look at the who would benefit the most from breaking the rules and it is usually the team which breaks them first. Björninen's tripping on Chabot didn't even matter because Chabot already had penalty coming. Also like I said. Chabot would never have been tripped if he didn't trip Björninen first.
