As a player in general Chabot may be better. But the scope was this tournament on an European ice. Lehtonen was one of the MVPs of the tournament.
Its not a question if Chabot is better. Its irrefutable Lehtonen would even agree. Congrats on the win but you're allowed to apply common sense.

Congrats to Finland, they are looking good as usual lately. As a Canadian, I am very surprised and very happy we managed Silver with this team. I didn't expect us to medal at all so this is a pleasant surprise for me.
I mean Canada had by far the best team on paper they should have at the very least finished second.

Big picture, there must be something behind this. When 5.5 million population can consistently produce enough good players to pull up this kind stuff (no, its not about quality of referees, you saw the game, and the tournament) in hockey.

It's not about genius coach, it's not about front office as a whole par excellance, its not about rosters of players (ever changing), its not about fanatic audiences, over the top medias.

Its how to play as a team. And this is something that Finland can offer to the world also on a wider walks of life.
I've always been a big fan of Finnish hockey. Second or third favourite team (along with the Swiss) to cheer for, after Canada. They always play the game the right way: hard and on the edge. What they lacked for a long time was top-end skill. Outside of Selanne and Kurri, they really didn't have anyone that could put up consistently good numbers until the last decade or so.

If there's anyone I'd want to beat us, it's them. It's just sad when it happens with so much controversy from outside forces.

You're somehow equally as blind as the refs are. Its a meaningless tournament, all that really matters is best on best but its unfortunate for the players and their families when the reffing is this bad. Diving to get calls too.... Its a tough look. Anyway im sure its a way bigger deal in Finland than it is in Canada so enjoy.
Give it up man.

I agree on all fronts.

Give it up man.
Give what up? Stating the obvious?

Of course, not all Canadian fans are crying children. The older ones also remember quite well that the referee sometimes helped them as well. And he also helped Sweden, Russia or the USA. I also have some bitter words when they fired Nylander, but it's just hockey.

Well by the way you are reacting you seem care a whole about this meaningless tournament. I got to say you're not giving Canadian hockey fan a good look here.

On paper means nothing these days, the NHL playoffs being a perfect example of this. This team was not built well and it showed, they were very lucky to medal let alone get silver.

Sure it did, but then it settled back down in its original position before the puck went in.

TSN showed the super slow motion replay.
That's correct. However, the vicious crosschecking should have been called. That was the real referee gaffe.

Which forwards on team Canada are better than: Granlund, Manninen, Armia?
Granlund is maybe better than Dubois (he definitely was in his prime, but he is starting to get older). Manninen and Armia are nowhere near his talent, even if he has discipline issues. Barzel is definitely better than all 3.

Great character from Team Canada coming back from 3-1! Hilarious hot takes from Canadian posters who: don't care about the tournament, claim these refs for sure was the worstestiest ever, and again nobody cares about the world champions. 😁

Team Finland, huge respect. 🏆 Played better than Team Canada starting from 2nd period, forced them to take penalties, so very well deserved winners! (Yes, one penalty was wrong. Never happens, or when it does to Canada it is the worst ref ever. Go figure.)

Best d-man in this whole tournament was Heiskanen and the best forward was Barzal.

Barzal grew, but i would pick Manninen before Barzal because he produced the whole tournament and then won the gold for us.

Best forward: Manninen followed by Barzal and Armia.
Best D: Heiskanen and it´s not even close.
Best goalie: I guess Olkinuora.

Best Team: Finland :D
