I'll be back later with a softy of the night. There was nothing that really stuck out to me too much. Every goal on Copley was bad, as per usual. Not sure if any was really a softy of the night, but the first one may have been. I thought the goal that got Vladar yanked was horrible.

Annddddddddd the waiving of Campbell was the best thing to happen to them (I bet he’ll be back though) because Loser Todd’s errand boy could no longer switch it up and play Campbell every other game when Skinner was struggling. It kind of forced them to let Skinner sink or swim. Of course he got fired only two or three games after they waived Campbell.

I wish our staff would do the same with Schmid.

Ruff showed that he struggles with goalies last time he tried to give Schmid some rope. He played that great game and then forced him to start the back to back less than 24 hours later on the road. He set Schmid up for failure. Sure, a top goalie can handle that, but a young goalie is likely to struggle.

So Blackwood was a rock back there for SJ, not giving up any stoppable goals which allowed SJ to claw their way back. I bet he stopped most of the shots he faced.

I believe the goal on it from Ken Daniels from the Red Wings was “there’s a goal from the pearly gates!” Or something like that lol.

That's surprising as Blackwood almost never gives up a softie. Sure, he may get beat sometimes but as you've said to us many times he's really a 920 goalie and it shows.

If I hadn’t seen the replay of the cam on Korpisalo’s glove side, which isn’t shown until the very end of the video then I probably wouldn’t have given this softy of the night and it would have just gotten a stoppable goal.

Once I saw that I really hated this goal.

It was the only goal he allowed in the game I suppose.

Even with soft of the night, Schmid gave NJ a chance in the game. If they can get three of their own they at least would have gotten a point. My impression is that's what "average goaltending" means. A roughly 900 save percentage and if he gives up a softy he saves a few tough ones to make up for it and balance everything. An above average goalie avoids the softie and just gives up 2 goals on about 30 shots. Sadly, that would still have been a loss yesterday.

I went to look him up on the three goalie advanced stats sites because he's playing more like Rangers Georgiev than last year's Avalanche Georgiev. He's actually playing above expected on both moneypuck and natural stat trick, and only about a -1 GSAx on natural stat trick. Despite an .896% and an almost -5 goals from league average save percentage.

So he hasn't been THAT bad this year.

I noticed I don't have him for a terribly high percentage of goals stoppable either. It's not real low, but it's below (better than) league average percentage.

I do think he overachieved last year though.
