Softy of the night is this Michael Rasmussen goal on Cam Talbot

It was really hard to pick one, as there were way too many tonight. Two different goals on Binnington from poor puck handling. And the Claude Giroux goal on Hellberg was awful. The move was nice, but the shot looked like one that would only go in on a 31 year old career AHL/European league goalie that gets been passed around the waiver wire multiple times this season.

I really wanted to give it to Bobrovsky for the Panarin goal that sealed it in that game, but this one was just too easy.

Softy of the night is this Mason McTavish goal on Kaapo Kahkonen

This goal really shouldn’t have counted, as it appeared very much offsides, but I was furious with Kahkonen over this goal. Way too slow of a glove hand. That shot came too far out and it wasn’t one timed or deflected. Just not good enough.

Yeah, not buying a screen on that one. He appears to even see it unloaded at the time it was shot.

Vancouver goaltending looks as awful as ours last year if that is possible. Just nit 7 awful goalies. Watched highlights from last night v.s Winnipeg. Spencer Knight can't make a save either. Such a fickle position to play goaltending.

Knight is one of those goalies that I’ve counted an alarmingly high percentage of goals stoppable on. He was up into the .920’s just a few games ago, but has gotten blown up his past several games and it’s probably barely above .900% after yesterday.

I now have this theory and it’s certainly a plausible one, that Maurice has preferred Bob to him because of how many goals look bad on Knight this year, despite having stopped a much higher percentage of the shot. At least up until yesterday, he’s probably not much higher than Bob anymore.

They were letting him run with the job, until he got sick some time in early December and Bob had to play. Well, after Knight was better and was able to dress again, they kept sticking with Bob, until they finally threw Knight in there against Boston, where he allowed 7 goals and 4 looked a lot like 3 of the ones he allowed yesterday. His numbers have been plummeting ever since.

Spencer Martin is merely this year’s Jon Gillies. That’s exactly what he is. Only he actually had an NHL job when the year started, based on nothing but 5 games of .950% for the Canucks in the NHL last year and being in the AHL the rest of the year. And like Jon Gillies last year, I’m pretty sure Martin is about 27-28 and I don’t think he even played 10 NHL games before this year. He played a few with Colorado about 5-6 years ago now.

I think the only allowed him to be the backup because first of all, they thought Demko would play 65 games and expected him to play 65, therefore you don’t need anybody any good. And second of all because he’s close to NHL minimum wage if I’m not mistaken.

Martin was brutal last night.
He’s been even worse for the most part than he was last night. Which is why I’ve been calling for Delia to start more, as he’s likely no worse and has been much better in the games he’s been give.

Well they finally gave him a random start last night and he stunk and was pulled just a few minutes in the 2nd period.

Martin will never work in the NHL again after this year, unless he makes him way up from injuries. He’ll only be signed for the purpose of playing in the AHL though.

Taking it back to 1983 on that one. Looked like a standup scarecrow goalie. Looked like he got electrocuted after it goes in and starts falling down.
