Husso wrote his ticket out of town in the playoffs. Hofer and Lindgren can handle the backup role.

Binnington has to be the #1. Who can predict how he'll do?

they are happy they got ANOTHER goalie who is worse than theirs.

avs strategy is to never face a #1 goalie on their way to the cup. look out mike smith, they are gonna nancy kerrigan you next!

Interesting - we basically got what amounted to league average goaltending in these playoffs. Clearly we can't win with average goaltending and our D corp.

Lol. Did Binnington write his ticket out of town the last two playoffs? Husso had bad playoffs where he was clearly nerwous. His first ever playoffs in Nhl. Maybe he learns from it? Now you are gonna ride 55+ games with which Binnington? The one from this regular season? 5 Great playoffgames and now he is forgiven? You have to get the playoffs spot first. Hofer is nowhere near Nhl ready. Good luck going in to the next season with that goaltending.

More chicken little sky falling bullshit. Binnington is the man for the 5 years and the sooner you all figure that out the sooner we can get back to complaining about Sanford.

Binnington helped turn our season around from worst team to winning a Cup and is a RELIABLE playoff warrior. He prove that against the AVs, there is NO question that if he didn’t get injured we’d still be in the playoffs.

When the team falters Binny carries. Husso can’t do that against a quality offense and breaks down, taking the already battered team with him.

So no more of that nonsense.

Husso < Jake Allen and that’s saying a lot.

Let Husso walk or trade his rights, it’s time we give another netminder a shot and we got an emerging badass in Hofer. Sign Chucky if you can because he worked quite well when we needed him and that should earn him another opportunity.

Agree completely about Binner, but I think you are being too hard on Husso. He showed during the regular season that he's got a lot of talent, but plenty of goalies have failed their first time in the playoffs, including Jake. The jury is still out on Husso as nobody knows if he can improve on this year or if he will plateau as merely a 1B option. I don't think it's fair to say he will always "break down" against good teams, and I certainly don't blame him for our loss to the Avs.

Personally I think he has the talent to have a pretty solid career, but it's hard to see a scenario where he returns to the Blues next year. Someone will give him a shot to start and offer a contract the Blues won't match. At least Binner's resurgence makes us feel better about losing Husso to UFA, because a lot of people honestly believed that Binner would forever be an anchor and we needed to do anything possible to keep Husso.

His inability to play the puck tanked us in round 2. He has to go because IMO both of our goalies need to have the same skill set. Puck movement. We were missing one of our only 2 puck moving Dmen and Binny replaced him with great effect but Husso could not.

Husso’s performance wasn’t as much of an issue as was Barbashev, Tarasenko, and Thomas being invisible a majority of the series.

The Avs possession stats were also insane, which has nothing to do with Husso’s play.

Kuemper faced half the shots Husso did in game 6 (20 to be exact) and, except for a couple of them, none of them were anything I'd consider to be remotely dangerous. Compare that to what Husso faced. Our skaters couldn't even keep possession of the puck to cross into our zone for probably 75% of the game. There were a lot of reasons why we lost that series, and Husso was nowhere near the top of those reasons.

I think our chances of winning this series were pretty much always contingent on Binnington being the X factor and stealing a couple games we had no business winning. We lost to a better team that deserved to move on to the CF's.

While I agree that Husso's inability to play the puck up to the level that Binner is capable of was detrimental, it's not what cost us the series.

There’s rarely just one factor. Many reasons we lost, including goaltending. Husso inability to play puck effectively contributed to awful possession numbers.

the biggest problem I saw was the inability of our d-man to handle the puck and make good decisions with the puck in our zone, other than Leddy and Faulk
Binny definitely helped to mask the issue
Avs definitely had our D-men scouted by their tendencies and exploited our players who couldn't make good, quick decisions

Lol. Binnington had the exact same problems playing the puck during regular season. It’s about confidence.
