If we had Chuckie, we would not be in the position we are in right now.
Presuming Chuckie would play as well here as he is somewhere else. He could also be putting up a 4.62 GAA like he did with Montreal in 2019-20 with a .167 quality start percentage.
Given that Binnington is facing almost 2 high-danger shots a game more (and Griess is getting 3.5 a game more, so it's not like the Blues are tightening up things when someone else is in net), I'd argue the "gain" of Lindgren in net would be minimal because he'd still be getting shelled by the opposition. You're talking about 7 goals saved, or about a win and change. Not really moving the needle there, and I don't see Lindgren doing better than that.
But yes, let's keep pointing to
5 games last season as the definitive, be-all answer for how Lindgren would play his entire career. Blues fans wanted to do the same thing with Curtis Sanford when he was 5-1-0, 1..96, .912 in the 2002-03 season and his 9-3-2, 2.31, .922 mark from about 1/23 to 3/13 in the 2005-06 season, and that worked out really well.
