Whats with all the paranoia around here..?...I'm sure Silovs is excited to play...You've got to start at some point.
He’s 21. Imagine if we just threw in Demko against one of the hottest offenses when he was 21. It’s not paranoia when it’s a legitimate “?” on why he’s starting. Obviously we still want him to do well and will cheer him on.

I get that..I remember Marky getting completely lit up on one of his first games a Canuck...He survived it...You've got to start somewhere.

To me, this seems like a reward for a player who has shown well..not a pressure situation where he's been thrown in there because our starters all went down to injury.

I don’t think anyone argues he shouldn’t play, but why not give him a game or 2 to practice and acclimate behind the bench?
What good is sitting at the end of the bench going to do for 2 games.?

You think Silovs, a competitive athlete who dreamt of playing in the NHL as a kid is wondering why Tocchett is throwing him in the game?

These guys aren't us, they want challenges and being able to overcome them.

PoM’s main method of argumentation is to gaslight posters who harbour valid criticism by misrepresenting their views or redefining words. He did it for like 5 years in supporting Dim Jim.

Guys, dont panick. As someone already mentioned, if a bad game is able to ruin a professional athletes confidence, he should not be a professional athlete.
Getting a game in the NHL is the biggest dream of any hockey player, and it is about to come true for him. I bet he is super excited. He sees that good performance is being rewarded in this organization. If anything, it should bolster his confidence.
Everyone, including him, should understand that the result of this game will have almost zero impact on his future carreer. He is not on a try-out contract. Regardless of his performance tonight, he is getting sent down once Demko is back, or even sooner. He starts the next season in the AHL. And only his results in the long run matter.
He is probably pretty pumped to become the 22nd Latvian ever to play in the NHL. And the 3rd to play for the Canucks - after Herberts Vasiljevs (2001-02, 18 games 5 points) and Ronalds Kenins (2014-16, 43 games 14 points).

I'm pretty sure that Delia will be back-up to Silovs tonight. Can't risk having Demko as back-up yet. He's scheduled to back-up Delia on Saturday, but who knows?

Is Halak in for the Rangers tonight?

I suppose if Silovs has high hopes and then gets those hopes shattered he will become a true Canucks and experience what fans have experienced every season

If we do end up around 5 and 14, C then D would be ideal. If we are really confident in the C lotto pick, I would call around to see what roster Dman might be available for that Isles pick. Someone like a Chychrun that can play right away, and then the following year that C and Raty are on the team. Myers + Pearson gone, OEL 24 buyout. Bam you got yourself a stew.
I think I want my money back

Yea I don’t understand this. Like why not give him a couple games to just take it all in. Feels like we’re trying to ruin his confidence right away.

Hopefully he can rise to the challenge, but it seems like an unnecessary risk
Yeah. Strange. I get calling him up if they just want to reward him for working hard in Abby with an NHL paycheque, but they just call him and decide to throw him in against a good team with one of the worse defensive environments in front of him...umm, okay then.
