Whats with all the paranoia around here..?...I'm sure Silovs is excited to play...You've got to start at some point.
I get that..I remember Marky getting completely lit up on one of his first games a Canuck...He survived it...You've got to start somewhere.
To me, this seems like a reward for a player who has shown well..not a pressure situation where he's been thrown in there because our starters all went down to injury.
What good is sitting at the end of the bench going to do for 2 games.?
Only 2..?..I probably only agree with 2 of your posts a year but I'm going to use them both up at once here - totally agree. Can't stand this soft thinking about not wanting to play him here. This isn't an OHL goalie, he's played in the AHL all year and deserves a chance over the guys who have been playing.
Its all good.Hopefully this game goes better for Silovs than it did for Mikey DiPeitro a few years back when he got buried by the San Jose Sharks.
But the reality is, when it comes to assessing the Canucks prospect pool, Silovs has been criminally underrated imo. He's had a breakthrough season in Abbotsford, and isn't as far away from the NHL despite being only 21.
Totally fine with this. Delia & Martin don't deserve to be in an NHL net so why not see what someone else can do?

Arturs Irbe 1997-1998.Guys, dont panick. As someone already mentioned, if a bad game is able to ruin a professional athletes confidence, he should not be a professional athlete.
Getting a game in the NHL is the biggest dream of any hockey player, and it is about to come true for him. I bet he is super excited. He sees that good performance is being rewarded in this organization. If anything, it should bolster his confidence.
Everyone, including him, should understand that the result of this game will have almost zero impact on his future carreer. He is not on a try-out contract. Regardless of his performance tonight, he is getting sent down once Demko is back, or even sooner. He starts the next season in the AHL. And only his results in the long run matter.
He is probably pretty pumped to become the 22nd Latvian ever to play in the NHL. And the 3rd to play for the Canucks - after Herberts Vasiljevs (2001-02, 18 games 5 points) and Ronalds Kenins (2014-16, 43 games 14 points).

I think Demko went the US College route and I guess got his degree. That generally means a given sports athlete will be a couple years older vs a similiar prospect going the Juniors route in Canada.Demko's NHL debut - 23 years and (almost) 4 months
Silovs' NHL debut - 21 years and (almost) 11 months
That says a lot about his development.
I really hope you're wrong but it wouldn't surprise me at all if this happens. We are so good at ruining goalies...10-2 Rangers.
Silovs allows 6 in 25 minutes of play, Delia on for the next 4.
End result- draft another goalie- they broke this one.
Yeah my theory is that by putting Silovs in for what is going to be a pretty tough game and not an easier one later is to apply a bit of shock therapy to this team by challenging them to support their new young protege. A real character test you could say. God help him...I had a well thought out post written out and somehow it was deleted so I'm not going to bother rewriting it.
The Rangers are in the top 10 for goals for, Philly and Nashville bottom 10. I'm all for giving Silovs a look but might have opted to go with one of those games. Anyway league wide there's rando goalies that come up and have great games, might as well try it here too, after years of committing bad money to veteran backups and refusing to play younger goalies.
