I really hope you're wrong but it wouldn't surprise me at all if this happens. We are so good at ruining goalies...
I hope I'm wrong.
However I do remember a guy named Mike DiPietro. He played 1 NHL game way back in 2018/19 allowing 7 goals in 60 minutes of play, with a save percentage of .708
The guy has played 65 NHL minutes, since then; and now plays in the ECHL.

I think whatever the f*** the team did in the 2021 season had more of a bad impact on him than playing him for one game.

Now that I've thought about it some more I actually think it's reasonable to play him after a really good week from Silovs.

dipietro's issues have everything to do with him being the size of chris osgood and nothing to do with that one nhl game he played

I don't see the argument against him playing, even if he gets shelled. Gets him some NHL experience, which I'm sure is huge for him. Dipietro was more hurt by sitting on the sidelines all of COVID than he was by that single game.

If they mess up his development (or he just doesn't pan out) that would be independent of whether he plays today and if it goes well. That said, if they plan to lean on him... then...I have questions....

Damn Like everyone I want Silovs to have a great game, but FFS please lose. I want a win % from here on out of less than 25%. A real shot to move into a chance at Bedard, and if not ... almost for sure a very strong player ....

I want a regulation loss, if Silvos losing his first game is one of the casualties, so be it.

Agreed.

At some point you have to treat every position like a meritocracy. The other two guys weren't getting it done and you have a guy performing well in the AHL. This isn't an emergency OHL call-up like DiPietro it's a move based on the play of the goalies and a reasonable choice.

I agree it's a tough opponent but the other goalies have set the bar so low that as long as he gives up 6 or less nobody will bat an eye. It's pretty much an ideal time to try something like this.

Saw someone selling center ice lower bowl tickets the ideal amount of rows up for $35 per ticket.

Man. Just so cheap.

Arturs Silovs..Ronalds Kenins...are all Latvian names plural..?

Anyway, I'm on team Silovs tonight..whatever happens..Hopefully, the team makes the effort in front of him.

We sat him for a full year. That f***ed him up more than anything else.
