who's your replacement targets?
The countless league minimum 4th liners that circulate … we have plenty in Abby

Mike Babcock made sweet sweet Johan Franzen cry from his head games and tried to alienate a rookie Marner from his teammates, among other dumb as shit things.... but yeah let's bring him into the locker room.

It's definitely not already a mess, that would be exacerbated by his bullshit.
Just like Rickey Betts

Because Babcock isnt one of Rutherford and Alvins buddies from Pittsburgh
Exactly right

The thing with this is that, while it’s fine to have a good two way presence on a line, you can’t do the thing where you have a guy like Mikheyev neutering Matthews offensively.

There’s a balance to this and it comes down to roster construction. If pettersson is going to play against another team’s best players, I get it. But considering Tocchet wants to use Pettersson in a Sedin 2011 role, I don’t really get not having Kuzmenko there as your automatic pencil in.

Kuzmenko Pettersson Podkolzin is the line that we need to see for an extended period. It makes too much sense and Bruce didnt give it the light of day before Podkolzin melted under him.

This is good for the tank.

He feels it too.

Isn't that third line simply the first line with Horvat exchanged out for Dries? Shows the need for 3 or even 4 good centres. Not saying they shouldn't have traded Horvat but it emphasizes the priority to get/develop a younger, cost, controlled 3C.

I don't remember Kuzmenko and Boeser ever really playing together. Usually one would be with EP & the other on a different line.

Well we did trade Bo for exactly that. His production, and especially goal scoring will be missed, but we did keep the 2 better C's, and now have a real promising prospect plus double tap in the draft.

Either do I really. It's more of a point about them being top 6 wingers who, with a 1C, could be a first line.

That's partially my point. With Horvat gone, acquiring/developing a solid younger 3C is one of the higher priorities. Raty could be that guy but good organizations don't stop looking once they have that one guy that could develop into the role. In this draft they should take a centre with the top 5 (hopefully) pick and maybe even with the 13-16 pick if a projected top 4 defenseman isn't available at that slot.

If the Canucks wanted a loudmouth condescending dinosaur coach why not hire Babcock???

At least Babcock has an actual nhl coaching resume

*Entire Canucks team plays horrendously bad team defense; basic stuff*

*Coach opts to teach basic stuff*

"DINOSAUR!"

Regardless of the on ice product, I do like this mgmts new focus. I see them targeting more defensively capable forwards and not allowing young players to get ice-time until they play this side of the game. For all the people that always want scoring new sexy prospect in the line-up before maturing their defensive game, welcome to what you get. Going back to AV, this was the way. IDC if you're lighting up the AHL. If you can't defend against 3rd line opponents, gtfo.

If we do end up around 5 and 14, C then D would be ideal. If we are really confident in the C lotto pick, I would call around to see what roster Dman might be available for that Isles pick. Someone like a Chychrun that can play right away, and then the following year that C and Raty are on the team. Myers + Pearson gone, OEL 24 buyout. Bam you got yourself a stew.
