That 6th shot is completely fabricated to avoid tying an embarrassing record. Aquaman probably paid big money for it.

Hey good job Aquaman, you're not useless all the time!

I vaguely recall one time when we played the Islanders they thrashed us with something like 6 goals in the third and won 7-4.

I think Tocchet's restrictive system lends itself to these kinds of games where we can't get anything going offensively. It's not like Nashville or Oilers are not downright trash defensively and tonight reminds of those low shot, low chances games where the forecheck doesn't work. And under Tocchet, if there's no forecheck, there's no offense.

Terrible brand of hockey.

what restrictive system? It only restricts us. We get scored on at will. We dont restrict anything defensively.

Honestly I haven't seen this group implement the system completely yet this season. Tocchet needs to rein this in quick. Part of what made the bottom-6 so good earlier in the season is that they were playing defence as intended, lots of plays broken up before the entry and we used our skill on the counterattack.

Since Suter moved up, bottom-6 is not as strong and the freelance disease is spreading. Too many forecheckers overcommitting, too many forwards looking for tips at the net front which increases the chances of a turnover from a point shot and those guys get stuck so there's no forecheck and no high forward.

Then we allow easy entries and we struggle in in-zone coverage, which is a lot of what you've seen. Our D doesn't protect the net front with either pass coverage or by taking the man. Then only one of our pairs plus Brannstrom can transition us into offence. Then the forwards get antsy and are more likely to do the stuff mentioned earlier.

A Tyler Myers natural hat trick right now would really change the flow of the game

Brannstrom with some Hugh-esques moves out there, maybe slightly more suited since he is a titch more conservative.

At least they are showing a pulse this period.

As I say this, that entire forward line was behind the play, easy entry and they get good zone time and a decent shot.
