The problem is that if we really want to try and win with this core, it will be with Miller being a significant piece for us, and he's hitting that age where his ability to be a difference maker may start to diminish a bit, so do we sacrifice picks now to bolster this Miller window, or save them and try to bolster a second window in a few years?

I think Tocchet's restrictive system lends itself to these kinds of games where we can't get anything going offensively. It's not like Nashville or Oilers are not downright trash defensively and tonight reminds of those low shot, low chances games where the forecheck doesn't work. And under Tocchet, if there's no forecheck, there's no offense.

Yeah see this makes a lot of sense. Again, I know the onus is on the players to play better but going back to the playoffs the sense I'm getting is that this team's struggles are system related. The team isn't actually 5-shots-through-2-periods incompetent. Same with the constant low shot games in the playoffs. That didn't feel like the team just not playing well.
