I realize Francis would be critical of what PD ordered for lunch, but I do like palace intrigue.

I never know what to think of KF's claims on sources but this one at least partially rings true to me. Its exactly the picture I got on Dorion's immaturity and pettiness. I am sure McGuire knew he was getting the axe .. I am not sure why Melnyk didn't just replace Dorion if he felt he was not doing an adequate job. That would have been the best move he could have made.

he alludes to this saying he will update later on perhaps quite a while later. In an answer the comments section of his article, he drops this little bomb

Someone asked a similar question, I mentioned in my piece there are few things that I haven't been given the green light about to post yet. It pertains to your question a few others I received on Twitter and in the comment section. Sorry!
Let's put it this way, then you can maybe read between the lines. I was having a similar discussion with a media member this afternoon.....his question was, why didn't Melnyk have Dorion sign an NDA?!

if what he has is as nasty as that sounds, I imagine he's talking to a lawyer before throwing it out there.

Certainly nothing surprising in there if true.

I am sceptical of the claims being made in this article. If Melnyk was concerned about the management of hockey operations and the coaching he could have made changes.

This too: "...the bigger issue is PD and what he's using as leverage in the org to keep his job the way he did."

He's basically saying that Dorion knows too much and is using the threat of going public to keep his job. With the way this organization has been run, it's not that crazy of a theory.

It's like with Trump. No matter how outlandish sounding the story, the appropriate reaction is "ya, I could see that"
Absolutely.

In the context of the Senators, I don't find this one particularly outlandish. If anything it would have been more surprising if Melnyk was keeping his cool and having no issues with Dorion's up and down performance. Melnyk was not a knowledgeable hockey guy when you listened to him speak, so I'm sure he looked at a lot of things in a bubble like why are we paying Matt Murray 25 million dollars of my money to suck and/or not play?

A bit of a stupid article. Parts of it may be true to some degree, but the level at which he interjects his own opinions simply shows his inexperience as a beat writer.

Those sorts of stories occur all the time, in just about every organization. In Vancouver with Benning & Trevor Linden. In Toronto with Kyle Dubas and Lou Lamoriello. Previous Ottawa with Bryan Murray and John Muckler. Those are just the Canadian markets that fans know better than most. But could go on, and on.

Again, just shows his inexperience, and his needing to find a storyline to support his own views. It just screams of someone with the inability to earn respect through their own journalism.

Just my take.

Lots of THIS… this article reads likes it’s written by a 14 year old.

Apparently Francis is the leader of the Petty Sens Fan Club.

Francis is just a big fan with the narcissistic need to feel like an insider, with obviously no inside information

Everything is a complete fiction, based on things known and accepted that any poster here could fester into a 500 word diatribe.

An inability to earn respect through their own journalism. You think this article is advancing that respect level? I doubt it.

Everything this dude wrote was soundly criticised here on HFSens as being written by an amateur with no connections. Even his "give me a follow" bit was mocked. So now he writes something on McGuire and the only real source is having listened to W&M. It's just a bit weird

I have no doubt PD didn't like how McGuire came onboard. Would you in his position? Let's suppose that McGuire did approach PD and was hired. How would people in here react? Guaranteed the reaction would be that PD is such an idiot that he hired someone that's been looking for a job for 20 years. But if we believe what we read in this article, PD turned him away and poof! A week later he's been hired by Melnyk.

I have no idea what the circumstances are around the hiring or firing of McGuire. All I know is McGuire was trying unsuccessfully to gain employment in the NHL for a very long time. His being hired was odd and now he is gone. It's hard to say we're worse off due to his absence

PD needs some front office help. Hopefully he gets it

I have no idea what a Sens management contract looks but I can guarantee you there is a section in their with an NDA saying any disparaging comments or information belonging to the club is made public will be considered legally.
This idea that Dorion doesn’t have an NDA maybe the stupidest theory of Sens management I have seen and I’m the President of the “Melnyck and Dorion have to go club”

It's literally just creating an article about known facts, pretending to have sources (that obviously aren't real) and you can't be called out on it because how do you verify an anonymous kid on HockeyBuzz's "sources".

We know the Sens are thinking of trading the 7th. We know Fiala has been on the Sens radar for a long time. It's extremely simple:

"Have verified with multiple sources leaguewide the Sens are HEAVILY after Fiala. A source close to the situation has told me the Sens have offered up their 7th pick + one of Guenette/Kastelic + a roster player (Sources tell me Kastelic is HIGHLY valued by the Sens). Apparently the Wild want the Sens to include Shane Pinto, but the Sens don't want to do that". Give me a follow and I'll follow you back!

Rinse and repeat. Any inkling of news that everyone hears, and it's made into an unverifiable anonymous "believable" fabrication. Dorion getting rid of McGuire because he was a perceived threat he never got along with? Absolutely believable, assumed by many. Add in fake sources and you can peddle it off as a fact rather than a widely assumed situation. The article is no different than assumptions made on HF, it's just added fake sources.

Only thing in that article that seemed like new info to me is that McGuire approached Dorion for a position before he had any communication with Melnyk. I had always assumed that McGuire went straight to Melnyk before Dorion was even in the loop.

Your assumption is likely the correct one, McGuire going to Dorion first is just another in a long list of unprovable "sourced" scenarios that could have happened that are a made up narrative
