Serious question. Are you saying he is a leaf fan? The guy states he has been a Sens fan since forever. The guy worked for the organisation full or part time for almost 20 years… including VP of the B-Sens. Did he really mean for it to be a trolling tweet or is he Leafs fan? No benefit of the doubt for him. (He must have been an friend of EM… so bring on the abusive and harassing tweets Sens Twitter Army - all good…. hypocrites ) 🤣

Doesn't matter if he is or isn't a laffs fan (and the tweet suggested he is).

If you work for a public organization, you do any kind of troll/support tweets from an anonymous account. Social media 101, dude. And it's not like these platforms are new and no one has seen the very public fallouts from people over and over and over.

Personally, I think it's funny how it has blown up. But he brought it on himself. If he stayed on the job or left doesn't really matter to me.

Kinda funny how you're so personally slighted though.

Not slighted at all…. I just think it is embarrassing, as usual.

When things should be getting better, they seem to get worse.

They’re not going to advertise that Melynk is gone … they will advertise new ownership, new beginners, new era or whatever.

Anybody who thinks they weren’t spending $25.50 because of Melynk has some wires crossed. There are a few other issues they have to get worked through before they become decent customers.
Unless you’ve personally been impacted by him , you don’t rationally hold back $25.50 from a billionaire, especially when $25.25 of it goes to pay for the players you watch.
If you were a better fan you would be buying better tickets.

Man, I didn’t know he worked for the team for 20 years. Also didn’t realize that his job quite likely had nothing to do with social media, but other forms of marketing, or that he is a self proclaimed Sens fan.

I feel dirty, no more responding to Twitter reposts for me.

He resigned? Like HE gets to walk away on his terms?

And why is our director of marketing a T.O. radio host? Can we not pay someone to be here full time?

And while we're at it, maybe that someone should be a person with marketing and/or PR credentials and experience. Perhaps then he/she won't be rooting for our biggest rival.

It's all a joke, IMO.
As I said in another post he worked for EM over 20 years ago and most likely knows the daughters and they him. So due to that they let him fall on his own sword. Bottom line he is out and everyone knows the real reason.

“This job requires my full attention, therefore I quit.”

Lmao, how much longer would this guy have been collecting a paycheque if he didn’t shoot himself in the foot
This is the start of a few changes around the team.

They don’t need to cut more - it’s balanced … they can humour the fan base with some increases in spending and if there isn’t a fan response they can just cut it back again.
They won’t risk more then your franchise value inflation.

Are you not a fan?

I thought you were big on Ottawa being a lean, mean business machine. Now you're fine with randos who knew Melnyk taking a paycheque because who cares?

I thought you said the goal of a business was to make money. To turn a profit. Should we not be cutting excess weight? Why are you so against cutting at the executive level? If anything that's usually the best place for a business to start cuts.

I don’t know … feels like you’d complain about anything the org does. You buy groceries every day form companies that hurt way more people than Melynk ever did … but it saves you a couple of bucks.

For whatever reason … this site definitely has attracted a large group of #antiOrgNonAttenders. No idea if it’s site wide or specific to the Sens.
The forest for the trees my friend. Not looking for a pissing match that can't be won.

I'm steadfast in my belief that you are very wrong and we are all going to find out soon. If I'm wrong, you can tell me you told me so in 5-10 years.

I’m not sure what your point is … but the org will hire a new director of marketing, possibly at more $$$ than what this guy was moonlighting for…

He reported to the vp of marketing. I assume there are a few more folks on the marketing team. Most of it is farmed out to agencies. He also insinuated that the role will need at FT replacement now, as things are moving faster now

who cares what is on Twitter?

A PEW research study showed that roughly 80 percent of all tweets from U.S. Twitter users come from just 10 percent of users. These users tweet 138 times per month, while the median Twitter user only tweets twice per month…… so a vocal minority squawks about the Senators, and people think it’s something of substance…. It’s not, and should NOT be given the time of day.

What does that have to do, with literally anything discussed here?

Seems like some are triggered by what they read (or hear about) on Twitter I guess.

With a little luck, we'll have new & richer owners, and an organization that is run better. Can't see why any "fan" would be against that notion. Odd to resist the prospects of a "brighter future" unless of course you are really not a fan.

Just catching up…so he worked 20 years with the Sens, news to me. He also works for Fan590 the entire time, and has posted about the Leafs before as part of his job with talk radio. What exactly is the uproar about?

Don't think he worked 20 years for the sens, he probably worked 20 years with Melnyk in some capacity, even that might be a stretch. Not sure where the 20 years comes from but it isn't supported by a quick look at his linkedin profile which suggests he worked with the team for the last 9 months.

Man has our days since last incident counter ever even made it to double digits? I guess with so few $25.50 tickets sold and revenues determining expenses we coudnt afford to hire a full time competent marketing director until more tickets were sold? Didnt one of the last execs put out a marketing study saying the problem is Melnyk? Then Melnyk fired him?

How many hours has it been since an uninformed sens fan tweeted something which was abusive, hateful and/or potentially harassing?

🤪

If only i could charge $25.50 for that. :)

Actually i will confess to being a little surprised at the restraint shown in comments when Melnyk died. I came here thinking to only post one thing - Ding Dong. But then seeing no one else stepping up, perhaps the fear of cancel culture got the best of me too. Its unfortunate but his death may bring the same new good fortune as his first arrival here did.

But good for Forsie getting the helmet of the year, he really did step up and fill us with confidence eventually.
