Where is "The Saurus" and what have you done with him.

A spade is a spade. This team is bad. Our GM is bad. Our coach is likely bad. We are a complete mess of an org. Buuuuut eh. We just won a dope game. And we still MAY be better than last year.

Hmmm .. Glad they snapped the losing streak.
Define better. Better than 23rd in the standings? Better than a pts % of .455?
I don't think they are deep enough to be better ... maybe they add a NHL body or two to make them better

Better simply better. We can be better than last year and still not finish higher than last year. Division was a joke we need to take that into consideration even if our GM didn’t

So confused.

When things are going not well, and your manager says the buck stops with me, and how we should be better.....shouldn't the next words be, ..." I submit my resignation immediately.."?

how is simply saying you screwed this up, all the repercussions that's are coming.

Kind of funny how going into last season people were talking about how the Canadian division was going to be really tough, but now everybody talks about how it was a joke.

Sena are a team that since they went to the finals have lived off of -“buckle up we are about to be great, the true fans see it the fake fans don’t”

steady diet of that since 2008

We'd clean out the front office and coaching staff, but really that's like only 5 people so....nah we keep it.

Inviting only Garrioch and other people who print whatever the Sens tell them to Dorions first press conference of the season is soft as hell.

This is the guy in charge of building our High Character Team lol

Ian Mendes in his column outlined the rationale provided by the Senators PR for not advising the media that Dorion would be making a statement and taking questions. It seems to me that the Senators were hiding this GM activity so media attendance would be sparse with the hope that certain media would not attend. Pretty low thing to do.

Meh.

Almost every team except Toronto seriously underperformed. Flames, Canucks, Habs and Sens were all quite a bit worse than expected.

I'm not sure we should have expected any better from this management group. Dorion has very thin skin.

Basically confirmed everything Wallace was saying about him.

He knows he's in over his head and can't face criticism, so he hides behind his network of propaganda shills like Bruce.

He's intellectually and temperamentally unsuited for such a position. Low character GM.

Offseason improvements or not, cautionary tales by some or not, after our finish last year just about everyone felt good about the progression of the franchise. Those that thought we could push for a playoff spot were in the minority (thankfully) but for the most part everyone expected this team to distance itself away from mediocrity.

So my point is, why throw SO MUCH shade on Dorion when generally we all felt good about the direction of the franchise?
Because anyone who has followed this team for the last 10 years knows that Dohrion/Murray/Melnyk were terrible magicians. Our finish last season is like saying we are so good because we were 1 goal away from the finals. We played only played 6 teams last season.

Not me. I remember noting that the top team from the previous year was Edmonton who placed 12th (iirc) and the next best was Toronto that placed 14th (iirc). Didn't look like a strong division to me before the season began.

Most who followed closely didnt think it would be a tough division. It was super hyped by TSN and Sportsnet and the talking heads around Canada, but if you took a step back and looked at the big picture, you knew the division wasnt going to be strong.

I know people are all like "Sens pinned their hopes on a kid with 12 NHL games." So what. No one complained around here. The guy is that type of player, clearly evident in everything he does. He is that type of guy, and yeah, he has 12 games, but when you know...you know. It is so funny, or sad, that people all of a sudden, who know what the Senators have in Shane Pinto, the disrespect, because they step on Pinto's head to get to their keyboard to blast Dorion. They are all out there, Mendes, Nichols, Stevenson, Lloyd, etc... lining up saying in hindsight, bad move. Well, any 2nd line center is going to be a big hole. But at least there is Colin White? Nope. He gone too

The media was already there, there was no invitation. Sens guy, Lisa Wallace, Titcombe, Callum Fraser were there covering the team for a national broadcast

I think there's more parity in the league than people give credit. Right now you have 3 North teams in the top 10 of the league, then Winnipeg at 15th.

Obviously MTL fell off the map, but they are without Price, Weber, and Edmundson all year so far. Two of their top 4 D and their starting goalie. Wasn't expecting a lot from them but those loses obviously hurt.

Vancouver is the only one that surprised me, I expected a lot more from Horvat and Pettersson.

Come on. Talent wise and hockey IQ wise, Pinto looked ready to all, sure.

But management ought to be able to assume that a rookie with tough assignments is likely to get banged up here and there, and have a contingency plan in place based on that elevated risk. Can't foresee that he'd miss the season, but would be prudent to assume you aren't getting 82 high quality starts in the top 6 out of a rookie.

It's a fumble from a team building perspective, plain and simple.

it was the Canadian teams D that was the issue. The offense on most of the teams are top notch, elite even. But bottom of the barrel D cores made it a strange division to read. I just looked at the defenses and didnt think it would be a great division at least in that aspect. You knew the scorers were going to show out tho

We did it last year with Norris as our #1C, and had even less experience than Pinto. We were asking Pinto to be a #2 or #3, along with White.

I get that it's important to have a plan B, C, D and E when you're a contender. But should you really spend the assets for a plan D and E when you're not contending in any way?
