Right... And the PP hasn't looked/performed as good or better the few times Giroux has been on it? Would it suddenly drop to 30th in the league if things are mixed up from time to time by swapping in a near HOF player for inconsistent players?
In a game like yesterday's where Batherson and especially Chabot didn't have it, a competent coaching staff with their finger on the pulse of the team/game would have called a timeout or made a change. Both to try to salvage the game and to send a message. Accountability matters in any work place, if success is of any concern.
If someone does not know how to swim there are two ways to teach them.
The first is the slow and patient way. There you never leave the learners proximity, you provide all the necessary accessories and tools to make the learning process feel safe and enjoyable.
The second one is much faster, requires less effort from the teacher and other then a body of water requires nothing else. However it comes with a higher level of risk. Here you basically take the individual eager to learn for a nice walk by the water and when they least expect it just throw them into it and observe. Pay close attention to the progress and be alert because if no progress is made get the learner out of water. Its pretty crazy what human beings are capable of when our survival instinct kicks inn.
What I am trying to say is that the coach is the teacher and those boys are still learning. How he chooses to manage the game and coach the team is up to him because he is an NHL COACH and most likely knows more about the game than any of us. NHL is a result driven league and as of late the results from the Sens have been among the best in the league.
I agree that accountability is important but how you apply lessons to teach it is a totally different ball game today then it was 5 years ago. Society as a whole is far more sensitive today and you have to be very careful with what you say, how you say it and to whom. Who is not to say that maybe he felt there was no need to do what you re suggesting and keeping them playing and sucking was the lesson and punishment in its self ? I mean they put in a solid outing the following game.
