Could end up with both the best player and the best defenseman from 2020 if Sanderson keeps it up.Pierre's genius knows no bounds.
Edit: Also worth noting that both are locked in long term for 7 & 8 years.
And a wiener in Pinto ....Could end up with both the best player and the best defenseman from 2020 if Sanderson keeps it up.
Agreed. Incredible draft for sure. And a wiener in Pinto ....
Doesn't every team have extra forwards that can play in case of injuries? We'll see if Brassard/Gambrell are good enough, but that's not really an example of a "great call". It's standard procedure.

Emotional scouts make poor GMs.One thing I have noticed about Dorion and his ability to evaluate his own roster .. is that he is pretty consistently overly optimistic on what he has pieced together. Some of his seemingly poor decisions are tied to this. Duchene is an example. Debrincat may be another. That was a big move trading futures for DeBrincat 9m this year and next if he doesn't sign and he isn't moved.. The move just seems a little premature now. I do like the Giroux move even though we can expect a continued slow down .. He is a quality vet that the Sens have missed through the tear down and players not wanting to stay.
Not addressing the D year after year .. I can't explain
I think the roster construction holes probably means that DeBrincat will be moved either that or some other significant salary out move will be needed.
Reupping DJ was not a good evaluation for taking this team to the next level.
Its pretty clear this team as constructed with the lack of ability to implement any kind of defensive consistency was not taking a big next step and imo this is due to the construction, coaching and the maturation of the current roster.
This was a big at bat for Dorion and DJ and .. they hit a weak grounder to first and Bill Buckner wasn't defending.
Brannstrom, Sokolov, Thompson = Stone , Duchesne. Lol.Dorion got zero impactful NHLers from trading Stone and Duchene. Terrible.

Nope, but it sure does make it feel good that he didn’t sign that massive deal here. What exactly is your point?
Dorion didn't get as much as he should have for Stone when he was dealt, and unfortunately the main piece of the deal was Brannstrom who has been a major disappointment.
Stone having injury issues years later doesn't change that.

Wish him well, the trade flipped since Branny ended up not reaching his billing at the time.
