I like seeing credit given where it's due, Dorion deserves a ton of credit for what he's accomplished this offseason, and I've not been shy to heap on the praise when he's done good. I'm not sure why we need to try to praise him for things he likely had little to no involvement in though. Might as well start giving him credit for the graphic designs on the website, and marketing strategies.

You sound a bit touchy - nothing to overthink … yes I think the business side gives advice to the hockey side on massive player contracts ($200 million+) and yes I think the hockey side gives advice to the business side.

I absolutely think The hockey side would have been involved in the Phillips/Neil hirings.

We all now who’s at the top.

LeBlanc is the business side of the organization, but has zero say in hockey ops, that is 100% Dorion.

PD went to the board to ask for the extra budget for G and Cat. He credits them and the sisters for the approval.

LeBlanc on the other hand would have been in charge of hiring Phillips and Neiler (so stoked to see Neiler in the fold), as both jobs are on the business side and not hockey related. He may have had to gain approval as well for additional budget, or maybe the guys fit right into his expanded front office perview.

Both guys have told the media that they speak together everyday, so suffice it to say that they are in each other’s loop concerning new and upcoming decisions.

I’m going to be curious to see how good Chabot looks at $10 million in the near future.

He’s not the best PP1 option.
He’s not the best PK1 option
Sanderson may pass him soon being the most valuable minute guy.

Pinto, Greig, Boucher, Formenton, Lassi, JBD, And Branny are all going to need contacts when chabot is making $10 - that entire group may cost $10 million to keep.

Dorion’s planned this well - I bet he has a plan for some of these guys as they transition to their $10 million years depending where they slot on the team.

Dorion needs to focus on getting this team a deterrent. We have too many rookie, undersized or vulnerable stars that can be targeted like Stutzle, Cat, Giroux, Norris, Pinto, Sanderson, Brann, etc.

Opposing coaches will be targeting our skill.

Right now we have Brady and Watson when he’s healthy. Maybe Hamonic. No one else.

Most teams can easily go two deep fighting if needed. We don’t want Brady having to provide all this protection.

I don't share this fear. Senators are one of the most physical teams in the league. Maybe 1 more defenceman over 6'2. This isn't the 90s.

Fair enough … I do. DJ has them hitting everything in sight but there’s a lot of soft/light contact that doesn’t do anything to stop a Gudas, a Habs rat or whoever from targeting someone.

Ya - I agree. The kid is jacked and developing into a power Center. He’s close to being able to take care of himself beyond a cheap shot.
